Many thanks for the suggestion. I have picked these up and they seem much more robust.

is your mudguards bent at the rear or been in an accident?
this is a possibility
can you bend/adjust the angle to raise the mudguard clearance?
i tried I feel like I may snap them .. I need a vice/controlled bending environment

Probably short term solution would be getting a new rear mudguard or try bending that back with heat/hair dryer?

is there a definitive ‘how to’ video for a 2 speed rear wheel removal and refit?
google gives me every other rear hub but the 2 speed despite putting ‘brompton 2 speed rear wheel removal’ and the top hit is bromptons own video of a hub gear being done.well it seems bromptons own video is a load of bollocks, mentions the 2 speed briefly and it’s just a 15mm spanner except when you remove the plastic derailleur the second 15mm nut doesn’t undo but spins the axle and the bigger nut between dropout and hub (which is bigger than 16mm (don’t have one to fit)).
well that’s great brompton thanks for your attention to detail/customer support.Edit: got it undone by putting the NDS nut back on alternate tightening and loosening the nuts against each other until they both freed off.
an embarrassing amount of crud in the derailleur jockey wheels and a missing inner chainring bolt. this bike needs some TLC.is that inner bolt different from the others?

bunged one in from the spares box.
No idea if it’s the correct length but if it falls out there are plenty more where that came from. -

Wow, wide "fixie" bars and spds nice!
Where's the Brompton sticker from? -

Don’t forget to take the packaging off the axle nuts..
-
• #12469
Are they supposed to be taken off? Asking for a friend.
-
• #12470
Yes. It’s packaging. Also a fairly clear sign the nuts haven’t been torque checked!
-
• #12471
Yes and no, some customer wants them back on and it's available as a spare from Brompton when it eventually falls off.

Complete waste of plastic!
