Bought for 310 quid what was described as a 2022 se iphone but its a 2020 model
Seller took over a week to send fobbing me off with being new which they arent.
So i have put in a return request.
The listing was clearly wrong where do i stand ? -

Ebay will refund you no problem. Put the serial number in to Apple's coverage check and it'll tell you the year or manufacture. Screen grab this in your dispute case.
Decide if you want to return the phone or a dog turd in the box -

Turd would be good or a dead fish but rather have the money back asap . Just resetting it now.

2 of the last 3 items I've listed on eBay have resulted in a buyer pulling out after the auction had ended.
In 1 case, though, I'm especially irked.
rant/
The buyer, 30 minutes after the auction ends: 'hi. I now realise my wheels that I want to put on it have the wrong freehub [for the groupset on the bike he's just bought from me] and I can't afford a new freehub for them as well, so sorry but I will have to pull out unless [wait for it...] you could help by dropping the price £100?'.
No, you cheeky sod, I won't!
And then, to top it all off, after I cancelled the sale, he messaged me the next day to offer me £200 less than the price the auction ended at!!
I get really, really hacked off with stuff like this. Too many people are just grifters. /rant

Nah its my fault really, I cancelled the request.
The thing turned up in the end, seller says its a mistake from RM and they can sort me a refund. I doubt they can, this has happened so many times from this seller (feedback over 6 months)
I dunno man, this stamp exists, its from 2020. Doesnt glow under UV but I dunno if it should. Should be valid till Jan 23

I have sent an item to a buyer who claims not to have received it.
In over 200 items nothing has been lost.... I always send recorded but the tracking says it's not been delivered. I've seen this with other items but never had an issue.
I think I'm being had...the cynic in me says this buyer has seen by an opportunity to cash in.
If I can provide the tracking number but it's 'showing' as not delivered will I be forced to refund?
-
• #2483
Yes. If tracking shows not delivered, you'll have to claim for the item and refund. Why do you have a reason to doubt them if the tracking says they don't have the package?

Not ebay, but anyone ever had a random request for money to their payal account? No idea how they got my email but some randomer just requested 500 euro off me. Cancelled the request and notified paypal, but a bit odd.

Thing on ebay for £11 with Best Offer. I offer £9, rejected. I offer £10, rejected. I go to make my last offer and the BiN price has been increased to £16. Shitbag.

i've never really understood the point in best offer if you're not going to accept a best offer.
i tried to buy a few outdoor wall lights recently which had a best offer.
as i wanted a few, i did a best offer 10% under or something which i thought was reasonable for a bulk buy.
offer and all subsequent offers rejected so i bought some from somewhere else.thing is, i probably would have bought them at the asking price if there wasn't a best offer available...

To be fair, unless you deselect it, eBay tries to automatically apply best offer on all listings
-
• #2488
To be fair though, it's fewer clicks to deselect it when listing or after you receive the first lowball offer than to constantly decline people's offers.
@bigshape I have done the same where my 'sensible' offers have all been declined so I've bought elsewhere. Maybe that's the idea, ebay hopes that you get pissed off making offers that get rejected so buy elsewhere for slightly more, earning them more commission.

An ebay first for me today. Tried to make an offer on an item and got a message that said ‘items from this seller are not currently available for purchase. Try searching for similar items from a different seller’.
Anyone come across this before? Does it mean the seller is on a suspension or maybe their account has been frozen pending a dispute… -

Jeeez. Evri. Sent an item to an eBay buyer using Evri. A Parcel arrived at the buyer’s house with my tracking number - but it’s the wrong contents?!
Can’t understand how Evri may have issued the same tracking number and address to someone else? This is hard to understand!

Anyone sent an item buying postage outside eBay and found you can't save the tracking number on the form for adding it? Did you get paid eventually?
-
• #2492
because evri were Hermes, and rebranding doesn't make a shit company into a decent one
-
• #2493
Never buy postage through ebay, never had any trouble entering the tracking.

This is so true - I was actually well aware of this fact but still used them. What a mug.

What a shit show with ebay this week.
Bought a Cinelli Sesamo stem, it was meant to be 140mm, it's 110mm.
Bought an Apple Green Brooks B17, Yodel have fucking lost it.
I fancied trying to get a partial refund for the stem since it was the wrong size which you can't do through ebay (it's either return it for a refund or nowt) so did it through paypal which the seller has taken umbrage with and started messaging me, not through the original transaction but via an item I have for sale!
He (I'm happy assuming gender as he is obviously mashing the keyboard with the type of anger and indignation that only a man can) reckons I'm measuring the stem incorrectly and that they only came in 140mm.
The messages became more and more indecipherable but the last one went,
"who ever told u that (how to measure a stem) is a complete jack arse amd don’t no what there talking about I’ve been doing this for over 20 years please listen to me I’m not gunna lie to you why I’m earth would it be from the stem point when the stem length is determine how far your reach is gunna be with the frame
Amd your position. Of the bike it’s self worth what the person is comfortable with so u measure the entire stem to work out the difference between you the stem seat post amd your positioning on the bike so would never measure it from the stem because that’s not we’re it begins simple"At this point I'm not sure whether he's trying to pull the wool over my eyes or his own.
With the saddle the seller is being pretty communicative and such, there's I'm just bummed that they entrusted it to Yodel and they have lost it as what are the chances of me finding another one of those rare colours for sale?
-
• #2496
hah! maybe just offer the stem for sale on here and try and get your money back rather than trying to reason with someone like that?
probably better than banging your head against a brick wall any further even if you lose a few quid!i'd still be tempted to send a link to show how the rest of the people on planet earth measure stem length though...and then block them!
-
• #2497
Report the messages to eBay and have the twat banned for harassing you.
-
• #2498
Aye, I reckon I’ll end up getting my partial refund. I didn’t reply to that message and haven’t heard anymore from them and they definitely come across as the type that presumes their (imagined) superiority means they don’t need to deal with pesky problems like PayPal claims.
-
• #2499
There doesn't seem to be a simple way to do this. I'm sure there used to be a 'report this seller' link or something but can't find it now.

This is just painful:
"who ever told u that (how to measure a stem) is a complete jack arse amd don’t no what there talking about I’ve been doing this for over 20 years please listen to me I’m not gunna lie to you why I’m earth would it be from the stem point when the stem length is determine how far your reach is gunna be with the frame
Amd your position. Of the bike it’s self worth what the person is comfortable with so u measure the entire stem to work out the difference between you the stem seat post amd your positioning on the bike so would never measure it from the stem because that’s not we’re it begins simple"To think that this person is actually out there, alive and operating in society...I've often wondered, how do people like this actually operate? as in with responsibilities and day to day life? I have to assume their inability to write coherently is not an accurate representation of their general intelligence...fingers crossed anyway...
But yeah, probably best not to engage with them further! Just do whatever you need to get your money back.
Can you go through PayPal?
