  • Xbox 360 version.
I’ll give it a go with SF4 this eve on the Series X - seems like it may need an adapter. Brook Wingman seems to be the first results when googling

Seems Brook wingman would make it work on Switch, PS5 etc too (not that I have those)

  • Actually I just finished it the other day. I didn't want to check out any reviews beforehand, still haven't actually. But personally I liked it. Genuinely felt like a Monkey Island game. I'd happily recommend it if you like old school graphic adventure games.

I've been thinking of picking up Grim Fandango on switch in near future, and I think there were also a few Sam & Max games.

  • I’m old enough to remember street fighter two arcade cabinets with just two big buttons that you had got calluses on your palms from trying to use.

I never once played on one where the owners hadn't left it running to hoover up cash but the buttons were completely shot and only worked one in every like 20 hits.

  • enjoying god of war fragglerock, feels like I'm still playing the original except the ps4 pro jet engine noise of the original isnt present on my ps5 anymore and they made the skill menus way way more annoying somehow. can't get through an upgrade sesh at brok and sindri's without accidentally closing the menu at least 5 times by mistake.

don't want to spoiler anything so hard to talk about the game itself but loving the little bromance going on and that's all I can say about that.

basically if you liked the original and want more that's what this give you.

  • I think Outer Worlds got some mixed reviews but I'm playing on the Switch and enjoying it after getting a hankering for a Fallout style game. It's obviously not a AAA game so there are some niggles like the environment isn't as navigable as I'd like sometimes, but the script is good and they seem to have hired some decent voice talent. Firefly is pretty tainted for me thanks to Joss Whedon's now known arsehole behaviour but this gives me a similar space Western vibe.

  • Speaking of arcade sticks I fancy doing a pad hack for the PS5 so if anyone has a busted PS5 controller they want minmal £ for, hit me up.

  • It was all about finding the arcade with the good stick and buttons.

Speaking of which, I have one of these in the loft that I should dig out again. Decided that old stuff on MAME with a modern controller just isn't right

  • Holy shit, the non-soul calibur version of that stick was my first stick. Took it to my first tournament when I was like 15/16. Moving the stick was like churning butter.

also reminds me of when me and a friend were on our way home from a tournament at like 16/17 and some people asked us if we were DJs, gesturing towards the arcade sticks, and we had to awkwardly explain that no, we were video games players.

  • since I've watched a few fight stick videos on youtube so the algorithm sent me this. I'd been looking at fightbox/hitbox controllers wondering what all the buttons did and where the stick was, and this video explained it all..

Now I'm wondering if I should have moved with times and got one of those instead? But seeing how I've never really played games on a PC, don't think it would be particularly straightforward or satisfying to use.

  • Sticks are still good and arguably better for SF style quarter circles. The hardest part about using a hitbox is getting your hands on one. I built my own because pre made are like £200+ and have to be shipped from the EU, US or China

  • I really enjoyed Outer Worlds. Definitely get the Firefly space western thing you mention. Only things I was really disappointed by I think, was that it felt like it ended quite quickly as I was just getting really into it and I seem to recall there were a few interesting sounding side story things that were mentioned through the game that were never really taken anywhere.

Yeah, didn't work. Nothing happened at all when plugging into Series X. Works when plugged into PC though

could be an unproductive afternoon at work

  • Collected fight stick, spent more on upgrades (buttons and joystick) than I spent on the fight stick itself..
    Fight stick still in box!

  • The PC version is so much better, the graphic really suck on the Switch.

  • I used to be an adventurer like you, until I took an arrow to the knee.

Skyrim is on PSNow (or whatever it's called now)

This will be the 4th platform I have played it on.

  • Yeah the textures are pretty rough on Switch but I don't have a PC anyway, plus I have the flu and it's nice to have something engaging to play in bed (although the gunfights are sometimes a bit too noisy if my headache's particularly bad). The load times are quite a pain, but I did complete Disco Elysium pre-patch on Switch which had the worst load times I've ever experienced so I have a high tolerance for them if the game is compelling.

  • Interesting to learn about Disco Elysian! Just downloaded the PC version and loading time is ok for a simple games

  • Deal for PS5 owners. New controller + Horizon Forbidden West for £45. On the right hand side of this page https://www.argos.co.uk/product/9418064?clickSR=slp:term:dualsense:1:9:1

  • enjoy! money men took over the company and forced the creatives behind the game out so there'll be no sequel (at least not by the original people).

  • Saw a WD SN850x 2tb ssd on Amazon for £169 in its Black Friday sale, saving about £60+ on retail, as I want to expand the hard drive space on newly acquired ps5.

Added it to an order and pushed the big red button.
Got an email from Amazon an hour after the order, saying the ssd had been cancelled from my order as the price was incorrect and they missed it.
Oh Kay! Went back to Amazon and it’s still up at the £169 price. So purchased it again.

Am on tenterhooks waiting to see if they cancel it again.

  • seems like the non-heatsink version is £169 still. which are you getting? I think you pretty much need a heatsink if it's going in a ps5 based on what I read when I got a 980pro for mine. third party heatsinks seem to be cheap as chips so still a decent saving factoring that in if needed.

but scan has the heatsink version for £169 in their sale now (probably where amazon are getting their prices from as they tend to match the market)

  • I’m getting the heat sink version.
    It was this one
    https://amzn.eu/d/0Wz7bNh

Which now doesn’t seem to be available for less than £219.

Still sitting in my orders, hasn’t been dispatched but also hasn’t been cancelled. So fingers crossed.
If they cancel again will have a look at overclockers who had it for the same price, as well as scan..
