Agree. I think it will need to change at some point. Must admit to be slightly disappointed that a retrospective application has been touted. Also the additional £350ish in addition to the VED through years 2 to 6 seems a slight backwards step to incentivising EV usage. I know it’s perceived as small change, but it certainly factored into our consideration. It will be circa £2500 more expensive over the first 5 years than our 2018 car, for people adopting under the new proposals.
£0 VED for electric vehicles to come to an end from April 2025. Will be (for the first time ever) retrospectively applied to vehicles registered from April 2017.
Any EV vehicle costing more than £40k will incur expensive car supplement from 2025 also.
