  • Was your gripe with TikTok or fashion TikTok lol?

I don't really buy much clothing at all anymore as I'm happy with what I have, but I still like to see what people are wearing and are into and its a good way to see :)

  • What does a Fashion TikTokr wear with a 75k LP coat? Battered Crocs and vintage Adidas trackies (no stripes)?

  • Haha totally bonkers

Once I get to £10m liquid I’ll send you some pics of my £42k coat and gilet

  • Lol he didn't buy it!? It was just informational about the jacket and that it existed.

  • Please do. I expect them soon.

  • I've been reading Charlie Porter's book on what artists wear.. Porter clearly has an aversion to the luxury business but yet is in thrall to the fashion brands. At times he enters Easton Ellis descriptions of the garms without a hint of irony.
The earlier shouty bloke in this thread made a good point about second hand clothes but I fear that the discourse around thrifting is essentially just Adornoesque negative around the luxury business.

  • I've been looking at barbour jkts does anybody know a good play to score 2nd hand ones in decent condition all the ones I see on ebay are mostly shot to bits or asking silly prices. I really like the boarder/ Northumbria
Edit also like the solway zipper.

Although I'm meant to not purchasing atm so might have to do one in one out rule.

  • Shouty troll made some points but my experience is I tend to keep nice garments, they last longer etc. My assumption is that others will also hold onto them so they don’t often end up on the second hand market. As such it’s a slim chance that in a second hand shop I will find the garment I want in the correct size and colour.

But hey, new clothes are terrible, we are cunts and disgusting pieces of shit but thankfully he has mounted his high hobby horse and revved off loudly into the distance.

  • Barbour has a re-loved section on their site. They don’t make it easy to find and I’m sure there used to be more on there but might be worth a look: https://www.barbour.com/uk/re-loved

I think you’ll find Barbour jackets rarely come up second hand at good prices or are rarely on offer depending what you want. John Lewis sometimes has sales on their lines but usually at the end of the season

  • I would advise going and trying them on. The fit is nuts across the range.

  • Ta @C4r1s & @hurricane_run.
Yeah I tried s few on in John Lewis snd the sizes jump about from there relaxed fit to slim / sports thing.
    👍👍

  • At times he enters Easton Ellis descriptions of the garms without a hint of irony.

Quoting for recognition of Easton Ellis reference. Rep.

  • Definitely try them on. Massive difference between “Barbour” (classic fit and style, made in Newcastle) and “Barbour International” (made abroad, more modern styling). When I was looking I think JL mostly had Barbour International, and also recall retailers all having limited lines, and all different lines (eg JL won’t have the same lines as House of Fraser).

I ended up going into the Barbour shop on Oxford Street for my second one as they had the full range of everything in almost every size (JL didn’t have XS), thinking that it’s a buy once coat so it’s worth it.

  • I remember that time. Huge difference. Pretty impressed tbh, and it made me re-think my own behavior a fair bit. Thanks for sharing this ❤️

  • This thread has prompted me to get rid off a few bits i don't wear anymore because it's either too big for me or bold for me impulse purchases that I've just gone off quickly like a Purple Richard James waxed jacket, Green velvet tux jacket and Blue nubuck John White Brogues everything will be in very good nick and either very cheap or free. Is miscellaneous in classifieds the the best place for it rather than here?

  • Belstaff currently half price on sportpursuit at the moment as well

  • Edgy brand.. which ezzthetic? Top gear man child, middle-aged cannabis importer, or accountant in the children's play area?

  • Now you've flagged it i am getting a Top Gear man child Richard Hammond vibe from some bits which is not the look i was going for and probably why I've not worn the stuff. I'll take pics and list everything at the weekend when i get time. Too busy right now though I'm off to save the planet

  • I briefly met BEE in a disco around the time of his bonkers fashion novel.. was tempted to make the good coke joke but didn't.. Regrets

  • If you could front that out... 💪

  • Just to quickly contribute... if you want high-end and second hand (to avoid being labelled a cunt by thread interlopers), then try out the Save The Children charity shop in Highgate.

  • I got one of the navy-brown check overshirts at TKMaxx over the summer (in Gdansk, no less), think it was about £33 there too - has side pockets I keep forgetting about and have an 'oh!' moment every time i remember.

  • Ha - I grabbed one of those, most likely a christmas present for my brother but I'll see how much I like it (and its pockets) first... this end of year folk sale is always great value.

  • Yeah, thems some hefty discounts. Is it the same line as the TK stuff?

Not everybody’s taste but I think the styling of the Drake’s winter collection is spot on.
