Sounding more like stray Ukrainian AA fire after all
-

From what i’ve read that seems unlikely as there were no Russian targets close to the Polish border, but who knows. So much speculation going on.
Either way, it happened due to Russia either way, even if it wasn’t their missile.
it’ll be interesting to see how this pans out.

I'm going on Biden and "unnamed" US intelligence sources saying they now believe they weren't launched by Russia but yes, either way if Russia wasn't launching attacks it wouldn't of happened

Probably the best outcome. Not enough to engage article 5, but serious enough to give everyone a good shake and cement the support for Ukraine

Lavrov's t-shirt emblazoned with the same crown that you see in my avatar.

Uniqlo MoMA tee innit.

Polish president saying it was an Ukrainian Air defence missile.
Interesting scenario this to see how Ukraine react now given their initial response.
-
• #3509
I assume whichever side it came from, knows it came from them?
Which makes the politics around it quite interesting. -
• #3510
Already reported and acknowledged by Ukraine earlier today no?
-
• #3511
They’ve softened their position but I’ve not seen them take responsibility yet
-
• #3512
Struggle to find blame on Ukraine in this. Sure it would be better if this was avoided, but still, what’s their option
-
• #3513
I’m not sure responsibility equals blame here.

Pocket type.

They seem to be disputing it and saying they want to send their own investigation team and have evidence it wasn't them, sounds like Nato are a bit surprised at the pusback
-
• #3517
Strikes me as naive. Even if they can prove it’s not theirs, what NATO say goes right?
-
• #3518
Im not so sure Nato would want to say it was a russian missile even if it was as long as it was a misstake by russia rather than an attack (which it ofc was not). Puts the whole thing so much closer to a direct conflict between russia and nato. A lot easier for everyone if idd it was a ukr launched missile, which there is a good chance it was anyways.
Maybe ukr is not onboard with everything nato? i mean for them im not so sure a potential escalation with nato and russia would be such a bad thing.
-
• #3519
Whosever it was don't be surprised if it happens again within the next week, as Russia start to push it, see what nato will do*
*Spoiler alert, nothing

In the end it was Ruzzia that shot almost 100 missiles to energy infrastructure in Ukraine. If they hadn't Ukraine would not have had to try to shoot them down. The only reasonable take from this is that Ukraine needs to be provided with the latest and the greatest in air defense systems. We can't let Ruzzia freely terrorize the civilians when they lose on the battlefield.

It always amazes me how Russians see the world - bash the decadent west, implement "gay propaganda" laws and stuff but then we see this guy with Basquiat shirt and an iphone.
The fuck is he even doing in G20 with his country firing hundreds of missiles a day, that's some poker face masterclass.
-
• #3522
Plenty of the G20 (not least the UK and the US) have been bombing the shit out of people and attending international summits in the past. If you think back to the (2nd) gulf war, western participant governments also sat on top of piles of bullshit whilst raining death and hellfire into countries and then invading.
Not saying Russia is right here of course, just that there's lots of precedent for launching attacks, lying about the reasons then fronting up to the community as if nothing dodgy is going on.

To be fair, USA part of G20 when firing hundreds of missiles a day in the middle east.
I also think at some point Russia will have a sensible leader, and they do have a lot to contribute to the global scale culturally etc, (and oil etc!!), So presumably the world leaders still want an avenue of communication to stop the war etc etc etc.
I'd use the scenario of post war Germany (lunatic leader defeated, rejoin society and provide benefits to the world etc).
Sorry that's not meant to read as russian sympathy, just trying to forumulate a sensible answer as to why Russia still attends certain events.
Edit - what atz said at the same time lol

Poor Ukrainian PR, better to fess up, say it may be a stray missile and say sorry !? The US knows exactly what happened as they have local AWACS at all times.

From my understanding, not exactly.
If your question is who fired it and where did it come from, AWACS usually does not provide sensor coverage all of the way to the ground. They don't see everything all the time from ground to sky. Or at least that is what I was told when I asked a friend who works in that area. Depends on weather, range, sensors operating, terrain, distances etc etc
Edit: he did also say that AWACS is great at missle tracking if fired from and over a calm sea or pancake flat terrain with few trees or buildings.
Awful big crater for an anti aircraft missile.
I think it was a stray cruise missile, we will find out soon.
