Plenty of the G20 (not least the UK and the US) have been bombing the shit out of people and attending international summits in the past. If you think back to the (2nd) gulf war, western participant governments also sat on top of piles of bullshit whilst raining death and hellfire into countries and then invading.
Not saying Russia is right here of course, just that there's lots of precedent for launching attacks, lying about the reasons then fronting up to the community as if nothing dodgy is going on.

To be fair, USA part of G20 when firing hundreds of missiles a day in the middle east.
I also think at some point Russia will have a sensible leader, and they do have a lot to contribute to the global scale culturally etc, (and oil etc!!), So presumably the world leaders still want an avenue of communication to stop the war etc etc etc.
I'd use the scenario of post war Germany (lunatic leader defeated, rejoin society and provide benefits to the world etc).
Sorry that's not meant to read as russian sympathy, just trying to forumulate a sensible answer as to why Russia still attends certain events.
