I wouldn't mind watching a bit of non-League again (haven't really done so since moving down here 11years ago!).
What tier are Clapton in?

Think we have someone on here who played for Clapton or I might be getting mixed up. I've been meaning to get to Bath FC. Recently in the news for a tragic accident.

The men's team are in the 11th, women's are in the 6th. Both are going extremely well this season with the women's 1st in the league and the men's 3rd.
If you're over this side of London (the ground is in Forest Gate) it's a lovely place to watch football. Everyone's very friendly, you can have a couple of tins on the terrace, and it's 100% fan owned. @Ben6899

Oh god, was this the fella that crashed into the advertising hoarding at Dulwich Hamlet? I heard about this but didn't know it was Bath. I hope he makes a full recovery.

Out of interest, is it now Clapton Community FC playing in Forest Gate (to which I'm assuming you're referring)?
What happened to the 'original' club?

I occasionally watch my son play in god knows what Saturday league around Bristol, can be brutal at times!

Yeah that's the one I've not seen any updates but hope the player is ok

Yes, should have specified. It's CCFC.
Clapton FC still exists, I think they play in Plaistow now as CCFC owns the Old Spotted Dog (the original club's ground).
The story is long, complicated and very messy and tbh there are other people in the club who could explain it far better than me. But, essentially, it's a classic story of owner mismanagement and fans deciding to do it themselves instead.

Hereford fan here. Since moving back to the shire last year have been about 8 home games and have my preferred seats in the Merton block near the season ticket holders. Listen to match day commentary via Radio Hereford FC on TuneIn, highlights on YouTube.
All still fan-led with lots of volunteer involvement even though it’s not a fan owned club. If I’m still living in the area and work takes off (self employed) then can see myself getting a season ticket next year.
Big gates for our level but still can’t compete with wealthier clubs who can operate a big deficit.
Get much more enjoyment out of the game now I’m able to go to games and am indifferent to top flight football other checking occasional match reports for Fantasy Football purposes.

@andyp I guess there's no real need other than I figured it would probably get lost there.
Also, I know a lot of people go to non-league because they've fallen out of love with the PL etc. It's certainly part of why I go and I say that as a former West Ham season ticket holder.
But I do take your point that maybe it doesn't need its own thread haha.

Ah yeah and I agree merge time ???

Thanks for the details, mate. Much appreciated. I'm not in Forest Gate, but it's easy enough to get to.
What kinds of numbers turn up to watch the blokes?

I have been a Billericay Town since the mid 90s (teenage years, get in for kids price, spend the saving on beers)
Went a lot for a few years, stopped for a few, back going a bit now the Tamplin fiasco is over.

Depends on the game but usually at least 150-200. Weirdly, the Men's team don't play at the Old Spotted Dog atm. It's having its changing rooms redone and, apparently, the women's league's rules allow them to get changed at the school across the road but the men's doesn't (despite the women playing at a higher level?).
They're temporarily playing at Wadham Lodge Stadium (also known as 'the stray dog') in Walthamstow or very occasionally on the main pitch at Hackney Marshes. But from what I understand they'll be back at the OSD by the New Year.
I don't think the men's team are playing at home again this year (possibly cos of the above). But if you are thinking of getting to a game, the women's are at home to Dulwich on the 27th, which should be spicy as there's a fun rivalry between the clubs. Also, Brentford in Feb should be good.
Anyway, I'll stop rabbitting/recruiting haha. Everything you need to know is here: https://www.claptoncfc.co.uk/

Thank you.
And 150-200 is mad for Tier 11! I will check out the fixtures.
Hola fixie skidders,
I know there are plenty of football fans on here but wondered whether anyone else regularly goes to non-league games. Regularly plumb the depths of the Isthmian League for your football fix? Get to Dulwich Hamlet games a bit?
This is the place to post about it (or at least that's the idea, maybe I'll just end up posting into the void).
I'll get us started. As a Clapton fan, I spent Sunday afternoon singing in The Scaffold as the women's first team played Ashford in the first round of the FA cup. The atmosphere was top notch and I think we got something like 500 people in.
