Have you bolted the guard to the rack? Have you taken out the bolts that held the stays to the guard, so there are just four small holes left? Like this:

anyone know if brompton hire locker things include electric bromptons? I think it's a good option for a friend's new commute but would like her to try it out a bit first.

I’ve got a work thing at the Oval, do they have cloakrooms happy to take a Brompton? Their website says something about bike stands at each end of the ground, which is not an option.

Don't think so but just got an email the other day saying they're about to start them on the subscription service, so might be an option first?

Had a proper look over the new bike today, overall pretty happy, noticed that the gear adjuster barrel was almost fully out, so reset all the gears and limit screws, bit poor really.
Checked torques of things like crank arms etc, all seemed reasonably tight but there was maybe 1/8 of a turn before the torque wrench was happy (freshly calibrated wrench from an engine rebuild, so unlikely the wrench is at fault).
Reset brake cable tension (again barrel adjuster was quite far out for the rear).
Front wheel doesn't appear very straight, maybe 3mm or a touch so side to side movement... never had to true a wheel so wonder if it's enough to get the retailer to have a quick look at that? Can't really adjust the brakes nicely given that.
Otherwise, really happy with it honestly, had to tilt the saddle down a bit as I was not very comfortable last week, upon a closer look it was pointing up a bit, levelling it out seems to have made it much more comfortable.
Managed to bag a new(ish) o-bag on Facebook Market place... first commute with it all tomorrow (after two runs with a backpack last week, quite looking forward to it).

this suggestion might make you want to tear your hair out but what if you moved the guard back just a scooch.

What happens if you actually connect the brake cable? Looks as if some pressure is being applied to the mudguard that might be due to the caliper being wide open.

This might be a smooth brain question but I had my rear tyre blow out and need a new tube, the current one is a schwalbe 16/18"
Can I just go into the LBS and get a regular ass 16" kids bike tube or do I need to order a brompton specific tube.

• #12443
Any 16" but check the valves if you prefer fat or skinny.

First picture, looks like the rack could move up a bit if it's attached to the frame

it is but I cant bend the L bracket any further ..

@Sergeant_Pluck caliper not touching the guards in engaged or non engaged positions, its more limited by the brake bridge and the back of the rack than anything else

Hmmm. This is vexing me now. If you were to bend that tab on the rear of the guard up a bit would it allow the mudguard to come up a little higher?
-

but that makes sense potentially if your mudguard is too far forward?
putting it back a bit might change the angle at which its oriented at the end ...
because @amey...
