I found it very disappointing and agree about the lack of character development and story , Without these it was far too long and boring.

Character of kat almost entirely wasted, many other good scenes from the book cut entirely or reduced to brief references.
Meanwhile, Henry Cavill is the latest hate figure for the toxic Witcher fan community because he's leaving the TV show. Most of them hated the show, grudgingly liked him because he was seen to be the best thing in it and the evidence suggests he's leaving because he doesn't like the way the show went and is heading, but they've decided to hate him because they're just a bunch of toxic assholes.

Mate told me about Peripheral this weekend so watched eps 1 and 2 last night and quite hooked.
Prepare for a slightly jarring near future, technologically advanced, rural USA setting though.

I binged all of The English on iplayer last night. Superb. What a story. My only quibble is that Chaske Spencer is a bit weak. Fortunately Emily Blunt is on screen almost the whole time.

It's surprisingly OK so far

The Devils Hour on Amazon.
Proper creepy, stunning acting, would recommend.
Seconded. That was very good. Also Peter Capaldi.

Handmaid's Tale season 5!
Think I'm fully bored of this show now. Fell asleep twice during the first episode and didn't even get to the end...
Stick with it it's getting really good!
You were right. That was a great season 👍

How many episodes? I think I'm on number 10?
Edit. Oh shit, well that makes sense it was the last episode!

Coming up at 11pm tonite on TalkingPictures TV (Freeview 82) is Night of the Demon, which is lots of fun and has a sample which Kate Bush used in Hounds of Love. I've probably seen it 3 times. Will probably watch again.

Warrior Nun, Series 2. GTFIN.
-
• #8012
What did it for you? The demon-cyborg nun disembowelling cultists, the pope torturing a cardinal or a mother superior eating penis-shaped pastries?
Or just the whole of episode 5.
-
• #8013
The English is pretty fucking good.
-
• #8014
No spoilers pls. I'm rebingeing series 1 so that I can hit series 2 at speed and fully immersed.
-
• #8015
Roger that.
If the N in GTFIN stands for "nuns", what does the I stand for?

Ragdoll
Mentioned a year ago, just caught up. Superb, Ep4, never been more on the edge of my seat. That sense of impending doom.
It has dark dark humour and themes, blood, and guts. Things would never happen like it IRL but don't let that put you off. -

Anyone tried Mammals? Does James Cordans character die immediately rendering it watchable?
-
• #8018
what does the I stand for?
Not sure - probably some sort of sacrament.
2 episodes in to series 2 now.

Avenue 5

Watching 'Am I Being Unreasonable?' the Daisy May Cooper piece on BBC.
Thought it would be a laugh, turns out it is pretty sinister.
Well worth a watch.Finished this last night. Loved it!

Loving this series with its 90s industrial deep house soundtrack

Is anybody watching The Peripheral? I think I should be liking it and the American side of the story is pretty ok but every time it switches to that future Charles Dickens teleplay I can't wait for it to be over.
Also way too many filler scenes with punching. -
• #8024
It's William Gibson, so doesnt that make it CyberDickens?
-
• #8025
I've been watching it, I think I am enjoying the idea/concept more than the actual execution, but it's pretty watchable.
I'm finding the near-future tech in a rural USA setting more jarring than the twee depiction of far-future London.
A lot of what makes me keep watching it is wanting the confusion to end.
The German film industry has produced a new film version of All Quiet on the Western Front. It's on Netflix and Pirate Bay. 2 and a half hours, and is being submitted for an Oscar. I had high hopes. Visually it's very, very good. But there's no character development or story. Most odd.
