Excellent piece, that. I’ve got a couple of mates who played with Turner in his later years, Mick who drummed with ICU and the other, Dinky, who was asked to jam with him onstage at a festival. She went to the tent and saw it was rammed with fans, shat herself and ran away. Both said he was an absolute gent in a slightly fried way.
I paid tribute by playing Space Ritual live from Reading ‘86 over the shop system on Saturday, and boy it sounded awesome. It may have scared a few customers away but frankly they’re the kind you can do without.
