    I get that. Just seen one dude walking his dog in them twice this week and each time has been the same “that’s quite a strong reflection”.

  • Hi-viz is two-part: the usually orange or yellow/green fabric and the reflective band.

    The fabric improves your visibility in low-light conditions, by providing a vibrant contrast to the gloomy background. Being swathed in it, isn't better than a few strategically placed pieces: aim to break-up your silhouette in an unnatural, disjointed way.

    The bands work when there is no ambient light (ie it's actually dark) by reflecting artificial, focussed sources. Ideally spread them out where they will be mobile: ankles, wrists and the head.

    If you want to be seen, you're aiming to present the most unnatural, disjointed, incoherent profile possible.
