• How useable are "old" GPS-devices in 2022?

I was looking into devices like: Vista HCx (really cheap), eTrex 10/20x or a GPSmap 62 (64 is too much $$$).

I'd get the maps from OSM. Everything I really need is typing in an address and then follow a route (I dont need turn-by-turn instructions, as long as I can see a map).

  • They’re totally fine, just cumbersome to use. Loading a route on the Legend HCx involves getting the USB cable out, plugging into a computer, etc., compared to Bluetooth/WiFi sync on modern devices. That said, my Legend HCx lasted 11 years and I’d probably still be using it if the USB port hadn’t given up the ghost.

  • USB cable out, plugging into a computer, etc.

I thin that would be too much hassle for me. I'd like to keep it simple.
