I'd say shorts is surely the answer here

Madison's waterproof MTB shorts are very good. Two hours in torrential Welsh rain and I was bone dry still, and they dry very quickly. Can recommend.

Madison's waterproof MTB shorts
Good to know. These ones?
Why do they have to put a ratchet on the waist right where a hip pack strap could be sitting…
-
• #956
shorts are a no go on e-Cargo bike in winter IMO
-
• #957
Same ones, but mine are the previous version that have a button and velcro rather than ratchet.

Tbh, if you're eebing then you can just wear a million layers of clothes to stay warm, the inner ones won't get wet

If nothing turns up, I have a very early proto pair that I could knock into shape for you. ...in multicam. Actually a really nice quality fabric, and because of the ubiquitous nature of camo, weirdly does disappear when wearing.

Are they proper Action Man-sized? 🤣

I found some 'Sunice waterproof, beathable, stretch' trousers in a charity shop. Turns out they were golf trousers: https://www.function18.com/products/sunice-rob-waterproof-pant-s46000-black?glCountry=GB&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI-_fn6Pub-wIVArTtCh1yYgu8EAQYASABEgJZUvD_BwE
May be worth considering similar. They're actually ok on the bike but don't know how well the seat will last.

Only if you’re cruising about in turbo all the time 😎
ride in ‘eco’ to stay warm! -

A joke about height?
-

They're rough & ready, so relatively easy to adjust (seams untaped atm) if needed, ^and although comfortable to wear all the time, are designed to get on/off in 15 secs, minimal faff, for the changing environments you're describing.

I'm intrigued and interested by the prospect of me kicking it in multicam. How do I sort this out then? :)

• #966
Surely not?

It may have gone over my head.

Can anyone recommend a good pair of leg warmers? I've got some winter bibs but they're 3/4 length.

I've got some Le Col ones that I quite like. Much better than the Castelli ones they replaced which just wouldn't stay up. I only paid a fiver for them secondhand though, I think they're about £45 new.

Any winter bib tight recommendations? Anyone spotted good deals in the Black Friday sales?
My castelli tights are at the end of their life, tempted to replace like for like with another Sorpasso Ros but they are a bit spendy.
Anyone used the dhb Aeron Lab Winter Bib Tight? -

I had dhb winter tights, which i've passed on to someone on here, i liked them weren't aeron. but were good quality just didn't get on with the pad.

Not tried the bibs myself but Planet X have some good deals currently and there is a 20% of code: https://www.lfgss.com/comments/16758369/

I’ve got some of their 365 bib shorts and they are ok. The pads are a bit on the bulky side and shift/mis shape pretty quickly, but as long as you give them a little smooth/straighten before they dry you can live with it for the price. Oh and they are short. Not pornstar short, but SHORT!

Thanks folks. I’ve took a punt on some dhb tights, how bad can they be for £40.
The Planet X stuff is pretty good value. I have lighter spring time bibs from Planet X but I find the sizing with them hard to get right. I’m quite tall so have to go with the bigger sizes but they then feel a bit too baggy in the wrong places. I also found the pad to be a bit too chunky.

I have some rapha pro team from years ago. I cut the pad out and straps off and they go strong. Very comfy and very warm. Beyond just using polartec powerstreach pro trousers they're my fav.
It's usually no more than 30 minutes. But yesterday was fucking grim - even by my "it'll be fine" standards. Sydenham to Downham is just blurgh.
I'll look at ponchos/dry robes / try and find my old w/proof trousers in the house.
