  • Leyland trade has been fine in our kitchen

  • @andos my taps have arrived too and they look decent enough, seal system is a bit odd but I guess it’ll work.

  • Ooooh, interested about the seal system? Our single shower outlet arrived and it felt very good quality, heavy etc but I didn't mess around with it too much.

    Still waiting on the taps.

  • Yeah it’s like the handle just goes straight on to the valve but, expected some sort of cover.
Also felt it feels a bit thin, actually defo a bit thin compared to arte form. Same proportions though.

Edit: had a further play with them, think I'm pretty happy verging on really happy, without knowing the quality of the internals they look and feel great and are the exact same proportions as the Arte Forme and Vola stuff which for me was the important thing, I find most taps bulky and clumsy looking which would only be enhanced when in a small space such as an ensuite.

  • For @andos and @Tenderloin
No frills and can’t vouch for quality of mechanics but proportions and finish look great.
If you’re doing multiple bathrooms you’ll save thousands as they are bargain basement prices (pretty much).
Cheers for the recommendations lads, really happy with them.

  • Slightly terrifying photo from the builders! Going for our first site visit since it all kicked off this weekend.

  • Budget cuts are getting real now...
    Velfac? Nope.
    Arte Forme? Nope.
Flooring? what are some good cheap options? 30quid a square meter cork is prob the cheapest right?

  • Depends what you want. There are some LVT offerings around £20/m² at the moment.

    LVT

  • I've got 18m2 of this cork floor tile leftover from recent works (the company sent a different fitting system in error and I've ended up with a load of cork floor tiles left over) that I could do a good deal on?

  • Ohhhhhhh thanks for the offer! Link isn't working atm. Think I need a bit more than that but lemme do some thinking.

  • Nae bother, may be this works without the hyperlink, or you can always search for it now you can see what I'm actually offering:

    https://www.floortique.co.uk/product/castello-naturtrend-cork-tile/

  • I think it may be blocked on my work machine, working fine on mobile.
Yeah they look pretty much exactly what I am after, I think the main bedroom will be 18m2 on the nose, so would just leave me the office to buy extra for.
Is it a floating system? I can't see the thickness on the site but I may be being blind.

  • I'm not entirely sure what floating system means, but they're pretty thin - here's the recommended installation video. If you're not installing on a flat surface you'd probably have to put some thing ply/osb down first.

DM if you'd like to discuss further! Cheers

  • I'm thinking of adding an oak tile trim (maybe 15mm) rather than a traditional tile trim/edge thing. In a mostly white-ish bathroom (some pinks maybe) - but I can't think of the life what to search for...if I search oak trim it just comes up as quadrant stuff or faux wood tile trim.

  • also is it a terrible idea? I have seen some lovely small oak ledges that sit atop the tiles - kind of want this vibe but not the actual ledge.

  • you can get anodized coloured trims and some RAL colours.

  • Tile trim tucks behind the tile and is perforated so the glue goes through the holes and bonds it to the wall and tile. This wouldn’t work with wood I don’t think. You can get wood effect aluminium tile trim. Or I guess you could buy a 15mm oak strip and silicone it to the edge of the tile. That might work ok if you tiling is 100% perfect. You’d also need to be super careful not to get grout on the trim.

Obviously don’t put it in a shower, but so long as you osmo it it’ll survive.

I like wood in a bathroom, warmer vibes.

  • Commercial grade vinyl. Something like Polyflor. Much like colour flooring co , but cheaper and harder wearing, <£30 sqm . You'd need to screed the floors though . Works in bathrooms too

  • Right yeah it wasn't actual tile trim. I have found what I think I was after, 15mm square edge oak strip. Wouldn't be in a shower, would be a fairly short run across waist height tiles behind the sink/toilet etc.

Wood is all about the vibes. Just need to convince the bathroom fitter its a good idea now...

This worked out at about £40/SQM, the list price comes down a lot if you set up an account. Its Ted Tod's trade standard and can have knots, but it looks really good. Laid it floating, not sure my back will ever be the same but very happy with it.

  • Thanks for suggestions all! Added to my Notion and Figma boards.

  • Our house is made of WW2 leftovers. Pontoon bridge parts maybe?
