How good is your physio? Have you seen a musculoskeletal specialist? Have you strengthened it?
If you brace your knee and have a bad crash, you could just fuck your hip as the force will transfer to another part of the leg.
I think the theory is that it's better to protect your compromised joint and accept that risk.
I have heard a lot of contradicting opinions though.
Hence saying see a specialist.
There are great physios out there, but having been through the injuries i have, I've learnt that an expert musculoskeletal doctor is very useful.
