I've been running with a club whilst staying in Northampton - really enjoyed it. So I think I'm going to join a club when I get back to London in the New year. Anyone here a member of a club in East (I'm E17)?

I run with Eton Manor, the club with the fewest fancy dans in East London. I can share some opinions via PM if you like

Not personally but Woodford Green appears to be your nearest and you can run with Ronnie O'Sullivan! Also Victoria Park Harriers a bit further afield, which I know better from racing at the Assembly League. Both have track bases, so good for structured training + competition.

I tend to have two active pairs of running shoes at any one time.
Gel Kayano for road and some Hoka trail shoes for offroad. Given that most of my winter running is on grass/light mud around Blackheath and Greenwich Park I think my virtually uncushioned trail shoes are a bit of overkill. They're great for proper trails/mud/ice/slush etc but thats not what I tend to use them for.
Is there such a thing as a running shoe thats in between full trail and full road? I.e something that has a bit more grip but also some fairly signficant cushioning? My Kayanos are a bit slidey for days like today.

Weirdly I used to use my Kayanos for mid trail.
Maybe Saucony Peregrine?
My son uses them for cross country and general running -

There's things like Nike Pegasus Trail
Dare I say it, they look like they're ideal for gravel... -

I'll stick with Hal then, day 1 tomorrow! I've a strength/conditioning routine from my physio for 1-2 times a week too. Excited to get started.

I was in the market for something similar, as it requires a few miles of tarmac if I want to link up local trails to me. I took a punt on these for £40 (10% off when you sign up). Very impressed with them on sodden trail and comfy on road.

Happy to hold you to account for progress each week if that'll help? Hal's a good choice.

Any chance you could share the strength and conditioning routine please?

How light/heavy are they please?
Look like they might do the trick for my stepson who doesn’t fancy clodhoppers -

Great - thanks for doing that !

I've got Nike Juniper trail and they're comfy but slippy as fuck on anything wet.

That looks like a great race, also I did enjoy the documentary (apart from the overuse of adrenalising music 😅)
Gret people organizing & running this!

Yeah sure let's do it! I was going to go for the novice 2 plan as is from his site

I guess it depends what "significant cushioning" is for you, but you might want to look at New Balance Hierro.
They got rather fat Fresh Foam X cushioning and their (Vibram) soles are really good I think 👍 -

It might be a little specific to me and my imbalances but:
- Bulgarian split squats with rotation, 4-5kg dumbbell in each hand 3x8-12
- Foam roller bridge (glute bridge with balls of feet on roller, working entire back of legs) - 2-3x10-30 seconds each side
- Copenhagan level 1 (like a side plank with upper leg on a chair, knees bent) - 2-3x15-30 seconds each side
- Single leg pogo's - 2-3x15-30 seconds each side
- Lateral jumps - 2-3x20-30 seconds
This is a progression of the previous 2 sets of physio rehab exercises I've had, which were more isolated and targeted movements for my adductors

I'm a big fucker so tend to prefer running on fluffy clouds.
Thanks, good suggestion.

Ace, I'll take a look.
Hal higdon would be a recommendation for me - easy to follow and several types. I'd also be adding some gym work if not already, especially as cold and dark now.
