The bont riot + wide were no good in the end and I’ll put them up for sale. I have at last got something that fits - snagged a deal on the lake cx201. Sure they look like orthopaedic slippers but they feel well good.

I have an abnormally wide forefoot, but my feet are relatively low volume and heel is relatively normal width.
I've been using Sidi Ergo 5 megas for some time now but I'm getting pain on the outside of my left foot, they're just not wide enough. Size 46 length is fine but definitely a little too roomy in the heel.
Been looking at Lake shoes and the width of my feet exceeds even their widest last. For reference:
Right foot: 288mm x 118mm
Left foot: 285mm x 120mmJust ordered a pair of discounted wide fit MX 238s, only available in 46,5 which I fear will be too big but we'll see. Stupid wide flippers.

Any suggestions for winter boots? SPD, non leather and fairly wide. I also don't get on with shoes with too stiff a sole after I broke my foot a few years ago.
Has anyone tried the Giro Blaze? My last 2 pairs of shoes have been Giro and they've both been pretty good. Anything else to look at? At ~£150 the Blaze are the absolute top of my budget.Edit: never mind, I've talked myself out of it. I'll stick to overshoes I reckon. Recommendations for decent overshoes welcome! My ancient planet x ones are on their way out.

Shimano MW7 are decent. Overshoes are so bad in comparison to winter boots. If you ride in the winter they are a great investment.

What size shoes do you have? Got a pair of Altura Night vision waterproof sat doing nowt, size Medium.

Have you looked at the Lintaman shoes? i have slim feet but find they enable me to tighten across the forefoot but leave wiggle room in the toebox, they are good for wearing in the winter as the volume adjustment means thick socks can be worn without being too tight.
I have the old design but the new ones have a boa at the heel which should help with heel fitting. -

I'd never come across them, thanks! They look pretty unique but theoretically they seem spot on. I'll keep them in mind for next pair of shoes, the Lake MX238 in 46 are working quite well for the moment.

I’m after an SPD shoe that doesn’t have an absorbent liner!! I need them to be dry for the next ride.
Any suggestions? -
• #135
No suggestions but I always stuff my shoes with newspaper, dries them out pretty good
Failing that, have 2 pairs

This will be second off road pair but it’s just less than ideal to be riding with shoes that don’t dry whilst riding either.
There must be something out there. -

Get a shoe/boot dryer

Ive some giro republics that Ive used for commuting for donkeys years (maybe heading towards 10 years? whenever they first came out). They have replaceable walking pads, which ive swapped out a couple of times - hence the longevity (plus a lace swap every few years)
However the pads are worn and you cant get them anymore, so very sadly the shoes lifetime is now limited.
Are there any other spd shoes with replaceable walking pads? Otherwise I guess I need to up my track stands....

Does anyone know why Lake is the only brand who makes normal and wide size shoes?I tried Sidi megas years ago and they were a joke, still super narrow

No clue - bont do a wide option too but lake are much better I think.

I have proper spade feet and find Giro mtb shoes work for me if you're after something wider.

Anyone know the quickest way to get a snapped boa lace fixed? I’ve requested a free kit from Boa but takes a while to arrive.

Its just a length of thin twisted wire that you could get from a art shop that may keep you going .
They are used on fishing gear as well so maybe a good national tackle shop. -

Just tie it back together where it snapped? Apologies if that sounds really basic and there's already a good reason you've ruled that out
-
• #146
Cable crimp the two ends together and maybe silver solder.

• #147
Tennis string should work, hybrid/Kevlar if you want to be bulletproof

Okay sweet, cheers folk, may go try source some suitable wire today
