Is there a tried and tested 26” guard that will clear the 2.3 DTHs I have on my town bike? SKS Bluemels come in a 65mm, but having used Bluemels before I’d be curious if there was a better alternative. Cheers!

There may be other options, but I've had 2.3" Schwalbe Big Apples under these:

I've had them on my commuter for a couple of years, once you accept they will get dinged it's fine...

What's a good value mudguard I can put on my Whyte Glencoe that can clear 27.5 x 1.9 gravelkings? Still Bluemels?

Are these suitable for 26? GB look great but probably out of budget, might have to stick with the Bluemels!

They do make a 60mm 26" version.. but looking it up, they look to be only 15£ cheaper than GB from SJS.
I have a set of 60mm blumels on my current dadbike/commuter, and except for the front coverage they are really hard to fault (the spray the underside of the basket, which is quite annoying in the rain).
I'd say get blumels or GB.

Hey how did fitting the PDW 45s on your Strael go?!
-
• #5409
It didn't. I put it off time and again, finally opened the box and immediately gave up knowing full well I'd just cock it up. Currently with my LBS.

I have just zip-tied a piece of plastic cut to an appropriate shape underneath the basket to stop spray soaking the bottom of my bag. Reasonably effective even in prolonged downpours, but then the bag is drenched from above anyway.

I just bought hebie mudguards for my partners 26" bike. I got the hebie rainline, which go up to 68mm for 26". They looked a bit better then the standard bluemels but i haven't gotten around to installing them.

Yeah.. I just haven't gotten around to that yet. I have been fiddling with the handlebar and brake setup on our recently aquired 3rd hand bullitt in my workshop time.

Ha yeah I know that feeling. You reckon there was enough clearance for the 45s though?

Front, definitely. Rear guard may need to be shaped/crimped a little at the seat stays but hopefully nothing too drastic. Will post pictures when I have it back, promise!

What should I do here?
Trying to fit a set of PDW fenders (45mm) to my Strael.

Drill, obviously. There are a number of things you can use as spacers (valve nuts, recessed brake bolts etc...).

Tap it flat or just wrap in the middle with a bit of leather/rubber/old football and zip tie it on both sides.

Thought someone would say that!
Was hoping to avoid drilling holes. Thought I was missing something more straightforward -

Thanks for the suggestion. Thought there would be a solution that came with the mudguards that I might have missed

Having the bolt vertical as (rightfully) dictated by the frame design is the best and cleanest solution.

I should have read the instructions first. Fairlight recommend drilling for the seat stay bridge fitting. Thanks for the help

PDW has a bridge that fits.

For a while I just bent that support 90 degrees and screwed it in. Later I drilled (chromoplastics, though).

Thanks for the advice everyone. Bit the bullet, drilled a bit, bodged a bit (bar end out as a spacer) but I think it’s there.

Great idea, keeps the minimal profile above the tire.
