  • so much rear toe in

  • Heh.

Yeah my Thundershot is just as bad.

    Must be a Tamiya trait...

  • That said...seems to be designed into a lot of rc chassis?

Maybe they think it gives better handling...

  • Couldn't help mesell...

  • It's adjustable. You want a few degrees of toe in. Swaps oversteer for understeer, since rc cars are so overpowered and want to spin out.

  • I came across flitetest on youtube - a while back, made a couple of things off their plans but then had kids and no time - used to be hard to find the right foam board but i think easier now and some uk places sell kits. When I was a kid (90s) I was desperate for RC gliders and planes but was so out of reach, all balsa and petrol. So cool the tech is now so affordable. Looking forward to building some stuff with my kids when they get a bit older.

  • Another cockpit finished this week.

    Starts off like this.

  • @Sheppz same here! I always coveted a real RC plane as a kid but it was just not realistic. Awesome that the tech is so accessible now. I don’t have time to really get into it, but def want to try a bigger foam plane in the spring.

  • Same! Although now I'm way through the looking glass.. foam just doesn't do it for me any more so I've started building balsa and fibreglass models.

The learning curve on this hobby is so long.

  • These are so cool as they are. Would be fun in deep museum frames

  • Just picked up a Rising Fighter kit for my boy's 10th b'day - has a motor and speed controller included. Can someone point me in the direction of a suitable steering servo ?

  • Don't want to promote but Amazon would have suitable if want quick...

U just need a standard servo. U can pay more for metal gears but prolly don't need for a kid.

Soming like this if don't mind waiting...

  • Nice - ta - kit has arrived - no chance anyone has a servo in their parts bin they could spare ? And Also a 27mh7 am receiver - I know it is old tech but I have an old tx spare and money is tight right now.

  • Finished my first Tamiya build after this thread brought back 80s memories. Went for a Lunchbox mainly because an older lad at school had one which looked great fun (and at the time there was no chance we could have afforded one).

Really enjoyed the process, and properly went down a rabbit hole in terms of mods: upgraded motor, 3D printed chassis and anti-slap braces, alu body mounts (oh and oil shocks arriving tomorrow).

Body isn't perfect, especially compared to some of the efforts shared here - but happy enough. Needed a lie down after the last coat of gold, three windows open clearly isn't enough ventilation!

Will probably give to the nephew eventually, but think I've got the bug. Might get something a bit more modern next.

  • So cool, congrats!
I keep getting close to buying one so often but never been bold enough to commit.

  • Lush color choice.

Not sure how the lunch box is so well proportioned but it it just so.

  • Cheers - will get it out for all the wheelies tomorrow! The shocks I've ordered are a little lower and I don't really want to mess with the look - will have to see what they're like on.

  • Looks great, would be interested to see the 3d printed bits and the anti-slap braces.. My wee fella had one a few years back.. great fun
