Thanks for that advice. I should do the upgrades as will hang onto the bike because it is still really useful to have for doing shortish journeys that I probably would have taken the car for previously. Problem is I am becoming a bit more lazy as I find myself doing enough pedalling to get the motor to kick in without having to use any force. Need to ride my gravel bike a bit more for commuting as before.
ah annoying there are ongoing issues!
looking at the spec id want to swap the cheap mechanical disc brakes for some entry level shimano hydro and fairly decent rotors I think. If you’re finding the motor lurchy (which is consistent with my limited experience re most hub motors) it might be worthwhile spending on hydro brakes with motor cut off..? Or it maybe possible to modify the assistance curve, have heard of people doing it with their bafang mid drives.
Almost certainly worth getting the wheel spoke tensions looked at, and also getting a bike shop to check the speed sensors.
I think an ebike specialist (like Besbike) could prob look at all this for you, and it will still end up considerably cheaper than a tern so maybe worth investigating
Although if you don’t like the cargo bike because of the high centre of gravity and maybe want to get something different it’s understandable you wouldn’t want to spend money on it.
