That report doesn’t include that the child hit the wheels of the trailer rather than was hit by the cab, so it seems she did collide with the lorry rather than was hit by it. Very sad.
Collision investigator PC Steve Fair reported that the bicycle travelling down the hill towards the junction of Church Street failed to stop at the end of the lane and went into the A338 colliding with the first or second nearside tyre of the trailer of the lorry.

This was a very sad story. The tone of the article is weird in how much it blames the child for "cycling into" the HGV. Usually expect better from the Graun.
