The new timer is an issue but you can fit the older timer that doesn't fail. Mine has been going for a couple of years toast every couple of days.

Thread dredge. Saw a post on a thread somewhere about a UK built toaster? Any suggestions as to who?

Probably dualit, although some cheaper models are made in far East.
Could also be rowlett, which I believe are still in production, they even have the assemblers name on base, like old school aston martin engines.

CNBA to check back at what peeps are saying about Dualit toasters but thought I'd report that my 3-slot model is still working good as new after 21 years' virtually daily use.
