  • Good. He's a massive cunt.

  • I believe he was supposed to be a demonstration of the breadth and depth of talent they have on the back benches

  • Feels like there is more to the Braverman thing, wonder if there is anything coming tomorrow.

  • Yeah, somewhat beautifully, the head of the National Education Union - who he'd called for to be sacked and offered to clear her office for her - put out a tweet offering the same office-clearance service. Proper chefs kiss moment. Gullis is a complete wanker.

  • Gullis is a complete wanker.

Not to mention a huge cunt

  • And a twat.

Which by my reckoning makes him a Twankunt.

  • Summary in the New European about how the Tory Party is doomed to fall due to Brexit

    https://www.theneweuropean.co.uk/steve-richards-a-party-driven-mad-by-the-europe-conundrum/

  • Apparently from a email from Rishi Sunak to Party members, the whole Corbyn fear is such a weird hang up

  • Further evidence of impending Tory doom

  • Mail on Sunday running a story tomorrow on Truss had her phone hacked by the Russians in the summer and a years worth of messages and data taken

Afraid it would ruin her campaign, Johnson and Simon Case stepped into get a news blackout

  • Don't threaten me with a good time!

  • It's a good story. Shame Truss is already toast, but does suggest the tory party aren't fully unified just yet. Leak has come from pretty high up.

  • Probably Braverman to smear Simon Case who was apparently livid at her reappointment

  • I get the feeling that the right are more scared of being on the pitchforks than having to use them.

I think their coalition-building comes from their basic principles e.g. sovereignty, personal liberty, national pride etc. appealing to various types of people and being vague enough that they can morph into whatever each group wants to see in them. That's how they managed to convince so many people that Brexit would deliver exactly what every person wanted it to, despite many of the desired outcomes being inescapably contradictory.

  • Leaky Sue was also investigated for leaks about the Northern Ireland protocol. In the sun tomorrow.
    Pressure building nicely.

  • Fighting bogeymen they create, it’s all they’ve got

  • Pressure building nicely

It will be a slow process

    As James Ball says:

"This Halloween season there is certainly no shortage of things to make us afraid. The spectre of a zombified Boris Johnson leading the country for a second premiership might have been chased off, but anyone relaxing too much in the immediate lull afterwards has clearly not watched enough horror – the rest of us know there’s a jump scare on the way."

  • interesting if this is a real email.

the only one of those points which even vaguely holds water is the one about anti strike legislation.

and on that - if personal liberty is important to neo liberals (which they say it is), how about the personal liberty to join a union and withhold labour? why is that in a different category to other personal liberties?

    these people make no sense.

  • how about the personal liberty to join a union and withhold labour? why is that in a different category to other personal liberties?

Entrepreneurs have personal liberties. Workers are resources to be exploited.

You're quite right, of course. An employment contract is a negotiated transaction but somehow Tories fail to see the rights (and the right to group together to bargain more powerfully) of the employee in that transaction.

  • Decisions made by Suella Braverman led directly to overcrowding and outbreaks of scabies and diphtheria at a migrant processing centre in Kent, The Times has been told.

Multiple government sources who work on asylum accommodation said she had blocked the transfer of thousands of migrants detained at a processing centre at Manston airport to hotels during her first, six-week spell as home secretary.

Isn’t the point that the “right to strike” is really the right not to get fired for going on strike. It’s not solely a matter of personal liberty because it requires legislation to curb the employer’s liberty.
