  • As well as the safety aspect, I'd be worrying about what I'd do if it did fail out on a trip, how to repair it back to a usable state in the woods. For the sake of what, 1kg weight loss, on a loaded bike, I'd rather just have steel and peace of mind

  • oh yeah 100% Better to have steel for a big long trip, whats 0.7kg on your total dry bike weight.

  • Final Destination have really spunked their budget on the previous sequels

  • 100% Alot of manufacturers dont actually specify the max load, and so I see people everywhere mounting racks. Brother do specify, so I went with this approach, which actually turned out to be easier as I wanted to run the cargo cages.

  • Very small hack but satisfying: on the restrap bag, the little rubber grommets to hold the extra length of the strap broke, so replaced it with bread bag closing things. Re-usable, easy to remove, very happy!

  • Using your loaf there.

  • Cheap too, don’t need a lot of bread for that one. Or do you…?

  • Quick and painless.

  • Just dough it!

  • You’ll knead to prove that works.

  • That’s a wrap

  • Woden cargo bike, no welds, just bolts and wood screws… this is the scariest bike i have ever seen

  • What is going on here?
    Palette-chic biek build?

  • Lots of wood but the steerer tube looks like the most sketchy part.

  • 60 miles in and the lock holder is still solid.

  • Palette-chic biek build?

    I'm stealing that.

  • Get Ralph Nader on the phone!

  • I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but if you do need parts to bodge a rack together, then this is a great kit of parts:

  • It's not as good (I'm telling myself) as hand ground, but it works

  • After driving myself insane trying to get hope rx4s aligned without rubbing I stumbled across their x2 calipers which now come in flat mount. The x2s are only dot oil compatible so I swapped the seals for some Shimano ones of the same size and am now running these with grx levers with no issue. Clearance is tight but better than rx4s

  • More advanced bike mechanics than a hack or a bodge!

  • Thanks! Am happy enough with the result that I've bought some more calipers and replacement shimano seals to use on another bike. Not sure why hope don't sell a mineral oil kit themselves really

The pistons are the right size for hope's levers, not shimano's, although they're obviously close enough to work well from your experiments.

  • In response to @stevo_com's inspired suggestion, I present version 2: replacement of plywood with triple, glued Mini Magnum ice cream sticks.
