  • I guess I consider myself to be somewhat centrist, despite being solidly of the economic left. That's mainly because I don't like dismissing any particular point on the basis of the background of the person making it and I'm enormously frustrated by the "left's" astonishing ability to dissolve into infighting and purity spirals. The right does have at least seem to have its head screwed on with regard to tolerance of disparate viewpoints, possibly because they have to in order to hold together the weird, otherwise unworkable coalition, that is the Tory party.

    Good point, well demonstrated by the five prime ministers in the last six years and amazingly coherent policy they have managed to deliver

  • The current rabble that masquerade as the Tory party are getting close to enacting the sole outstanding demand of The Chartists:
    annual elections.

  • Oh for sure, policy-wise they're fucked because they can't admit that the initial response to Brexit has to be damage limitation and that the sunlit uplands,if they exist, are decades away. I still think that they're better at coalition-building because they are happy to accept off-topic disagreements.
