All of this is correct. Paying a pro it’s skim every time, DIY I don’t have the skills.

Easifill is the hoover brand. Ask for that and you’ll get whatever your local supplier has that does the same job. My local place supplies Knauff Fill and Finish, it works well.

My only concern with taped and filled joints is if the texture difference between filler and boards is obvious or not that noticeable when feathered out and painted?
So long as you sand it smooth it looks the same once painted.
Many other countries think we’re weird skimming over pre finished board.

I skimmed our loft room walls/ceiling recently and needed to run an orbital sander over the end result, but it was still fairly quick/easy (2 days).
Will probably hire a pro next time though (1 day).

And from experience the areas you obsess over and get perfect you never look at again in such detail.
I’ll probably get them to quote separately and then if i get busy (self employed) they can do it but otherwise i’ll get stuck in, i’ll be doing floor sanding/finishing and new skirting myself so just another couple of days work. -

Am looking for an outdoor, metal paint, ideally that can be applied directly to a rusty metal bench, but some preparation is acceptable. But, it needs to be in a hot/deep/rich pink. Hammerite do a pale one, but that's not very nice.
Do any shops colour mix hammerite/similar products?

I like Johnstone’s smooth metal paint. Goes on real nice and they will match whatever colour you like from whatever range. There are a few Johnstone centres around Ldn.

I was going to tape+fill the plasterboard I've put up for the new ceiling in the garage, but I have now decided to get a plasterer to skim it, thanks all.

If you need to remove any paint, definitely invest in a Speedheater!
You certainly won't regret it.

I always tag my work, sometimes pretty obvious for the next tear out, sometimes in really sneaky locations.

Do you invoice for the materials on that?

Hot Pink (RAL 4010 or thereabouts) in 1L or less. Martin Brown do something for£39, Johnstones or Brewers for £30. Both too much £££ for this project.
What about spray paints? Halfords?

We found this in our house under layers of wallpaper, a bit less discreet:

Think I'll be ok laying down a marble hearth with plasterboard adhesive?
The internet recommends mortar or tile adhesive but I have a half used bag of plasterboard adhesive I want rid of.

Is there actually going to be a heat source there - fire or woodburner etc? If so I'd probably want a heatproof adhesive. It seems unwise to use an incorrect product just to use up £6 worth of plasterboard adhesive. I'd also wager that the marble hearth itself is worth a good chunk, so it seems silly to put that at risk just to save a small bit of cash.
It might be fine, but personally I probably wouldn't risk it because I'd flog myself to bits for being a tight arse if it goes tits up.
i’ll have a similar decision to make soon, internal insulated plasterboard and not sure if i should pay them to either skim or tape/fill. i could do the taping myself in a slow meticulous way and then tourpet fine fill and feather out if there are any noticeable edges as have done plenty of this before.
My only concern with taped and filled joints is if the texture difference between filler and boards is obvious or not that noticeable when feathered out and painted?
