Finally landed in the place we first viewed in August last year. It's a bit rough and mucky but looking forward to getting stuck in.

Large windows when panes of glass could only be made small? Seems a reasonable compromise to me.

Haha I like the windows! Though obviously I'm biased. Lots of other houses in the row have single panes and they look weirdly anachronistic.

Thanks @edscoble, I'm pretty chuffed to say the least.

I've been shitting it for the last couple of weeks but it went surprisingly smoothly in the end.

Oh yeah, love a front access basement. Looked at a few houses with similar but all needed way too much work.

Beautiful house - awesome stone, good job. My house has similar windows, they look great but they are a nightmare to repaint, and even worse if they need repairing! Just masking them took forever…

Aye we've already found a couple with rotten frames, so that's gonna be a bit of a learning curve.

It seems solid enough in general. The seller was quite honest that she couldn't keep up with what it needed, and it's been subject to plenty of questionable decisions in its life so there's plenty to get stuck in to.

It was one of the main selling points for us. We looked at a couple of others up the street and the basements were much deeper into the hill and felt really dingy as a result.

I used this stuff - it was eye wateringly expensive so I nearly found something else but it was honestly excellent - I cut out quite a big bit of rot and built it up with that and additional wood.
