Does anyone know if you can use Magura Royal Blood brake fluid instead of the Campagnolo brake fluid, which is far more expensive? Weightweenies seems to suggest it's possible, does anyone here have any experience?

Ugh, thats annoying. Thats for the info though, I managed to find the set easily with the code!

I used generic red mineral oil for ekar - it works fine.
I'm sure it will be fine as originally campag disc came with Magura oil and they designed the system, but will likely void your warranty.

Lovely, thanks very much!

On a separate note - I'm toying with the idea of building up an EPS groupset by buying bits and bobs online from different stores and doing it that way.
Campagnolo outline that building your groupset at home, and not by a qualified mechanic, voids the warranty. Is it advisable to take the bike in for groupset assembly, or can I just do it at home no issue?

It is a piece of piss to assemble, assuming you have a frame that can accommodate the EPS cables. There are lots of decent campagnolo videos online and you can also access all of the manuals on their website. If you need to borrow a magnet guide to feed the cables through then DM me as I have one you can borrow

Great, good to know. Still trying to decide whether Super Record EPS is worth the extra 1200 over Chorus, if I figure that out i'll get in touch

You sound far too logical for Campagnolo's target market

We used these for CX in the late 90s with 9 speed no problem.
-

We've been doing it, I think sometimes they come in identical bottles.

So anyone have any luck with an 11-40 cassette with 11 speed Centaur? There will only be 1 ring in the front so chain wrap should be ok.

Anyone know of a good place to get spare parts for Campy headsets ?
I'm looking for a fork crown cup thingy : i've tried mercian with no luck, hollandbikeshop, no luck, and tried in a few local shops parts bins but nothing that "fits" properly with the headset.

https://www.merciancycles.co.uk/online-shop/campagnolo-seat-pin-headset/hs-or010/
Mercian also carry a lot of Campagnolo spares but not the HS-RE008, not sure if this would fit the bill, maybe worth a phone call?

HS-OR010 Mercian sells is correct.
40£ however is pretty much what a current Record headset goes for.

Ah thats weird i checked their site the other day, couldnt find one ! But they are always my go to for campy parts.
@gertrudestein is right though i paid that for the rest of the headset. I will sit on it and see if i want to spend that -

Following my earlier comment, I think I'll go chorus 12 speed for my next build. I've just read that it's very finnicky to set up, especially on an internally routed frame. If this is true, does anyone have any setup tips? This will be my first internally routed frameset.
-
• #246
I didn't find Chorus 12 finicky to setup, and I'm not a shop mechanic. That said, it was on a traditional steel external routed frame, but you'll always have trouble internally routing mechanical cables well.
This guy's tutorials for Chorus 12 were really helpful https://youtu.be/TuILAb0rmwA
