My super quit so they offered it to me. I said no thanks, told them what was wrong with the job and quit as well.
Today was my first day as super after they buckled and took my "I don't want the job, so this is a silly price."
I'm thinking Balenciaga ...

Nice one, about bloody time!
Is the armour obligatory?

I get it, or understand that I’m not meant to, but could the model even make it down the catwalk in that?

Thank you! I'm enjoying an extra slice of bacon in my sandwich today.
And Colin, please refer to your RAMS re. PPE.

Apache boots update!!!!!!!
Wearing dealer boots with shorts wasn't working out, as I was having to take them off every five mins to empty the crap out. [boots not shorts]
So I got a pair of lace-up Apache as Screwfix stock them, whereas Magnum (my preference) get posted from the manufacturer.
Good quality (like the dealers) for £40, but (like the dealers) the soles have no give whatsoever and at the end of the day my feet are sore as hell, even with various insoles.
So I've now spent more than a pair of Magnum, which I will now have to buy and as I won't be in when they're delivered, schlep to the PO to collect.
Sorely [lol] tempted to wear my hiking boots in the meantime. It's not as if anyone's bothered: one of the brickies didn't have shorts, so was working in his cacks FFS.
I fucking hate house-bashing.

Any recommendations for decent-value work trousers? More towards outdoors-y walking trouser type with some knee reinforcement than millions of pockets and straps screwfix special. These would be for weekly working on small holding and foraging rather than daily work so don’t need to be super high quality/expensive. Ta

Sounds like you want walking rather than working trousers tbh.

Welcome to the dandy rigouts thread. Your comment is as insightful as saying Rapha is expensive on the nice but pricey thread
🤣

£140 for a pair of trousers? £100 for a pair of shorts?
Should have known really.
-

don’t need to be super high quality/expensive.
£140 gardening trousers. Does not compute.

If it's just for gardening get some Decathlon hiking trousers - stretchy, durable and quick drying, with reinforced knees https://www.decathlon.co.uk/browse/c0-sports/c1-hiking/c3-walking-trousers/_/N-rir8no

Hard hat with chin strap recommendations?
-
• #446
Surely Kask considering the forum?
-
• #447
It’s basically down to kask vs petzl. Low profile, and takes clip on ear defenders.

I'd get this. Apocalypse badass vibes

Why do you need a chinstrap? Working at height or on the ground (looking up)? Different standards for the chinstrap.
If it's just a site mandated requirement, rather than something your RAMs picked-up, then whatever your merchant has in.

I need EN397, and EN50365 a bonus.
Torn between a Kask Zenith X and Plasma AQ.
Will be mounting ear defenders so the Plasma will need the euro slot accessory - which seems like it’s asking for trouble.Amazon sites are fussy about having proper chin straps now. And I hate helmets in general, so getting one that fits more like the climbing helmets I’m used seems wise.
Going back to being a subby so need my own, figured I might as well buy a nice one.
One trip and broken ankle and you’ll regret these choices.
Zips always on boots.
I got new snickers stretch trousers for on-site stuff wore for 4 days in Denmark straight and can confirm worth every Penny. Absolutely unrivalled in the trousers department are snickers.
