  • Where to go in London to get cool vintage/antique rings?

Alfies(?) arcade in Marylebone is good, any where else? If it had other mid century vintage stuff that would be cool too.

    Cheers

  • The rotating coin link is interesting too, never realised despite having a spirograph as a kid lol

  • How the fuck do you install cleats on adidas velosambas?

Taken the insole out, there's some kind of soft pad firmly attached over the cleat holes that doesn't seem to be removable.

Searching online, there are no instructions, and every video I've seen reviewing them doesn't mention the cleat installation process. Half of them don't even put cleats on.

    Help!

  • Cleats should screw in from the underside of the shoe.

  • Oh duh of course I'm used to installing the screw plate under the insole but this is built in

  • Gray's antiques has loads

  • Do you have to cut it out? I had a pair of something or others where you had to run a Stanley knife round the outside of the pad to release it.

  • I'm trying to choose a laser cutter to cut leather. Could some clever people please help me assess this review? https://hobbylasercutters.com/atomstack-a5-20w-review-test/ The Atomstack A5 is widely available secondhand. This review is of the 20W base model. It says the dot size is big, and makes for relatively jagged cutting and engraving. But the A5 Pro, which is 40W, has a much smaller dot. I don't know whether dot size will matter when cutting a fibrous material such as leather. But I would like my results to look great when studied from a distance of 1 foot. Clean straight edges please. Not jagged.

  • What's the dot size?

  • I've got a chart with some data inside a word doc. I can get that data into excel by right clicking on it and editing data > edit data into excel.

I'd like it in powerpoint so I can have a visual representation of it that I can easily toggle off bits / export certain layers etc.

    How do?

  • "rectangular, approximately 0.1mm wide and 0.35mm high"

BUT it's academic now, because I've committed myself to an Omtech K40. Some people at reddit persuaded me I needed a CO2 laser with ventilation.

  • Laser cutting leather works well I've found. Cutting patterns and stitch holes for hand sewing afterwards.

Stinks though. Proper horrible smell. You'll probably need to clean the leather afterwards to get rid of it.

  • Does anyone know of a nice riding jumper? Like a casual sweatshirt, but longer back, cut for shoulders when riding etc. Plain looking sort of thing.

  • Do we have a outdoor equipment / gear thread on here (not bike specific stuff, more general) ?

Where can buy one of these please?
    With reasonable shipping etc etc
    Or from a store.

  • What would trigger hay fever like allergy symptoms whilst visiting not very rural Hampshire in October in someone who doesn't have hay fever?

  • Mould spores? Fuck that!

  • I'm not a doctor and you'd probably be better off googling this than listening to me, but this is what I think I know.

People with a genetic tendency to have hayfever sometimes don't have it for years. But it can be triggered by an episode of stress. After that they have it every year.

Air pollution from vehicles aggravates hayfever.

Hayfever is an allergy to pollen from certain species of plant. Different people react to different species. (In my case it's grass and plane trees.) Your reaction in Hampshire might be some other plant which you don't normally encounter. Maybe something on a farm, or at a garden centre?

  • Been visiting the area for years and staying in the same hotel several times this year due to family illness, but got out of a car yesterday and was in bits. Finally clocked it might be an allergy this AM and tablets killed it almost immediately. I'm going with mould.

  • If you want to know for certain you can be tested.

  • alergic to retirees

  • I'm going to have to start taking a laptop charger to work. The one I have is heavy so I'd like to leave it there. That means getting one for home.

I have this Dock which draws 15W and I need a 65W charger (my laptop bitches if it has fewer Ws). So to me that means I need 80W but all chargers seem to be 65, 85, or 100w. Will my laptop work it out by itself if I give it 70w? (ie 85w-15w=70w) or will it die?

    Cheers

  • It will only take what it needs. My monitor provides 100W, laptop only needs 65W, nothing bad happens.
