Crazy rain last night, haven't seen it coming down like that in a very long time. Our kitchen plumbing is now fucked so I assume the power of it coupled with the wind dislodged a load of moss and general detritus somewhere into the drainage pipe.

The rain yesterday up near Cambridge wasn’t as bad as last Thursday.

This was 10cm deep.

^ Your local authority Planning Department deserve congratulations. Almost a textbook swale implemented as part of SuDS, Sustainable Drainage Systems. This will prevent the storm water from the new houses immediately flowing to the nearest watercourse.

Everyday is a learning day. I had to look up "swale".

You should swing by Park Wood in Ruislip, one day.
We don't have SuDS, but we do have a multi-facetted NFM array.

Interesting to know.
It's definitely prevented flooding in the close.

Main issue with it is that, when dry, kids play football on it so all the grass / any plants in the bottom are all dead. They also can't stop kicking the balls towards peoples houses / cars.
