That came from a "Johnson ally" yet people like Chis Mason report it as credible, just doing their campaign for them.

That's not true. Mason was very quick to point out that there were major doubts about these numbers and that only 50 MPs had publicly declared for Johnson.

He tweets that "he's heard" Johnson has reached 100, only to subsequently say that others doubt it, is still giving credibility to the story that he's reached 100.
