Looks good!

Cheers, he's very happy with it.
Says that he doesn't want to get it dirty though, if I could get on it, I'd go for a ride, just so it was already dirty, then he'd have no excuse. -

Get mud in a sprayer and give it a good ol'scratch with a screwdriver
-
• #1455
The mud I could probably get away with, the scratch.... don't think he'd speak to me for quite some time!
-
• #1456
After the first scratch, the rest are less painful
-
• #1457
Quite, but it's not my bike, so I'd rather not be the one to christen it.

Got the steerer cut, and got the star nut whacked into place.
While Matt was here I thought I'd show him the bar tape I'd not told him about, he was worried the bike would be too dull visually, not any more, he's really pleased with the pop of lemon yellow bar tape.
Got the rear mudguard almost fitted, just need to attach the stays, that can wait til I've made the mudflaps though. Need to order a L bracket for the front mudguard, was convinced I had a spare, but no.
It'll be ready for him by next weekend, think we're just going to do a shortish "snagging" ride, make sure that he's happy with the fit, and we can make any minor adjustments that prove necessary.
(Excuse the shit pic, it's a bit grim weather wise today). -

Some of the bits for sale (listed on previous page) are in classifieds ( here: https://www.lfgss.com/conversations/380905/#comment16734279 )
Next lot will be bars.
Then wheels and tyres next weekend (need to clean em). -

Nice build, your friend must be happy. What brakes are they and do they clear mudguards okay. I went with cantilevers as v’s didn’t clear my mudguards
-

You're a good friend
til I've made the mudflaps
a very good friend

@StavG he's very happy with it so far. The brakes are Tektro Rx6 mini Vs, and they clear the mudguards and tyres (38mm Paselas) with room to spare.
@stelfox unfortunately for me (good for the planet) modern milk bottles are made from too thin a plastic, so I won't be making the flaps, I have purchased some from Raw though, so will still be fitting flaps. -

Thanks for the reply about the brakes.
I made mudflaps from A4 polypropylene sheet from eBay. You can get it in various thicknesses. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/171969488811

Any good?
I need some silver mini v's for a build.

Couldn't agree more, I'm not sure that I'd make mudflaps for the mother of my children (or myself really). It's all Ass savers as flaps for the Såsen family
-

They're not bad, obviously not TRP cx9 good, but decent with good pads (koolstop salmon this time round).
I'll keep edging him towards going full retro geek, so that'll be cantis, two more tasks before that though, get him not to wear lycra, and embrace Carradice life.
Tiny steps. -

Thanks for the link, I'm about due a new set of mudflaps so I'll order a couple of sheets and make some for my own bike.
-
• #1468
Guarded and flapped. Pretty much done.
-
• #1469
Very good!
-
• #1470
I hope so, Matt is just getting over quite a bad chest infection, so he's not ridden it yet, fingers crossed for next Saturday.
And, cheers. -
• #1471
Hope he gets better soon!
Yellow bar tape is a good move, really gives the bike some pop
-
• #1472
He's getting there, ta. Steroids, anti histamines, and now a course of antibiotics. Spoke to him earlier, certainly sounds a lot better.
Makes me wish I'd kept it for myself, can't both go out with yellow bar tape on our bikes!

That's how a club forms
-
• #1474
We're just two blokes riding to find a decent brew n a bit of cake, not really a club.

• #1475
Cake club.
Tell me I'm wrong
Bar tape, mudguards, and steerer chop away from done (ish).
