Bit of a weird one. The chainline actually looks ok, I put a 2mm spacer on it and it sounded worse than before! I'll try and take some better measurements so watch this space! I put the rear wheel on from my other SS and it's silent so maybe I should just replace the wheels and treat myself to a new pair for the other bike!

So I've solved the issue. It was the chain. Think it just had slightly thicker plates causing a bit more friction.
Super silent now with a KMC Z1 chain fitted. -

I have a 2008 (ish) pompino and want to convert to a free hub. Anyone recommend a free hub cassette that fits? Hard for me to figure out online. Cheers.

Anyone know the BB / Crank type? Mines a 2010 and seems impossible to find replacement crank arms.

If they're the on one track cranks they take a standard Shimano hollow tech if I'm remembering right

This is my v3 with GravelKing SK 35s and PDW full metal fenders.
I've also run Sim Works Volummy 700x38s under the same fenders. Paul Mini-Moto up front.
I reckon you should be ok with the TRPs, but a flat-topped mudguard design might help.

Hey thanks for this, good to know. Love your pomp, what a rad looking bike! I’d thought I need to switch to mini-vs to run drops but I found these levers (https://www.sjscycles.co.uk/brake-levers/tektro-rl520-aero-v-brake-levers-black/) which look like they’ll work with regular v brakes so I’m going to give them a try, should have a bit more clearance with the brake calliper.

I’ve had this frame for a while, only just got round to building it!
Parts bin build, with some parts that are probably too nice for what it’s going to be used for…

Hey when you installed the PDWs at the back did you drill them for the fitting at the top under where the seat stays join? And if you did, did you put anything between the mudguard and the frame, or is the mudguard sitting directly against the frame? Can’t quite tell from the pic above!

Can you use a 140mm rotor in the rear of a pompetamine?

I shouldn't really be asking but don't suppose anyone's looking to shift a bargainous 54cm Pompino frameset? Pompetamine or Pompino with disc fork even better.

"Glow in the dark" Pompetamine parts bin build. Next im thinking 42c 650b wheels/tires & a 1x10 drivetrain..

Finally joined the Pompino club after fancying one for years! The plan for now is a cheap af parts bin build. If I like it enough, I'll probably go for carbon forks and a hydraulic disc eventually. Hoping I can keep the initial build under £100 total (if you don't count the hundreds I've spent on the parts for it because I've had them for a while).

So it looks like there is finally a new pomp.

Interesting they spec'd a tapered headtube but for a rim brake bike as it does limit the fork options.
Looking forward to seeing these built up.

• #8573
is that what you took the crabon fork for in the straight 1 1/8" carbon forks thread?!
-
• #8574
Disc front, canti rear I would have assumed.
Removable canti posts would have been preferable.

Yep! Initial plan was to build it up with some shitty v brake forks from work but I got carried away...
Doesn't look like there's enough room to put the chainring on the inside?
Smaller chainring on the inside and smaller rear cog?
