Creminas, famously good value of course.
No, its more a comment on my finances than anything else. It's a gorgeous machine and I very much would like one.

It works, thanks for the link. Have seen their bags on the shelf of one of the local cafes but hadn’t heard of them, looks good!

You're welcome. I get some points too so it's good all round! Enjoy the coffee.

Update on owning my first espresso machine
-
• #23357
Haha. How many coffees per day so far?

Anyone got a good recommendation for nice decaf for espresso? We usually buy from a local company but it's either getting more popular or they're doing less of it.
Have tried Just Decaf once or twice but find them hit and miss.
Around £30/kg would be ideal

YB's decaf is good. Wife drank a fair amount of that when she was pregnant and I enjoyed the taste of it too.

Forgot about YB! We've tried them before and I enjoyed it, though unfortunately my partner was less keen

Sounds like a positive experience! My coffee consumption has definitely ramped up a bit in the previous few days due to the honeymoon period of the new grinder.

My decaf family and friends like the Coffee Real Salvation

That was me trying to "dial in" for the first time

Drinking this one now, if you like naturals this is really great. Will definitely order from them again.

Ha, yep, that is the one I went for too! Got half a bag of other beans to use up before I crack this one though but looking forward to it!

Haha, well it was a good choice!

The black coating on my Kinu burrs is disappearing. Down to bare metal along the edges. Is this:
a) normal, no probs
b) a sign that I need new burrs stat
c) weird but probably not affecting grinding -

Funnily enough I think that decaf is the one thing that YB don't do quite as well. It's ok, but it looks super dark. I'm not sure if that's the roast or a result of the decaffeination process.

Square Mile’s decaf is generally very good. And also a little roastier, so maybe that’s a thing

Any recommendations for good coffee in Lewisham? Doing a client visit tomorrow and they’re basically at the other end of the high street from the station, about where Beatties used to be if you were around London back then. Deviating too far towards Lee Green or Catford will probably be too far as we’ll be on foot.
-
• #23371
Yeah, Lewisham, not going to happen. It may be too far, but the newly opened 15 Grams in Blackheath is the only place in that end of the borough AFAIK that’s good. Happy to be proven wrong. 2 mins on the train from Lewisham.

Another "you're out of luck in Lewisham" vote here.
Although top marks for name dropping Beatties. Was going through some old stuff at my Mum's house a few weeks ago and found an old Lewisham Beatties carrier bag. Probably from the early 90s. The memories of never having enough pocket money to buy anything there are still strong!

I’ve had a competent americano or two from Big Bro Espresso the trailer by the DLR, but hasn’t been there for a while - don’t know if it’s pitched up elsewhere.
edit: also hench pastries.

Lol, poor old Lewisham! I thought I'd ask anyway, as there's usually somewhere nice hidden away.

That was my first thought too but I haven't seen it for weeks.
Yeh Origin is a great one. Their director of coffee Freda Yuan is excellent: https://www.instagram.com/imfreda/
