What's the purpose of the upgrade btw?
Aka - lightweight, looks or robustness?

• #12234
Would like to decrease weight a little bit and I am finding the turning on the front a bit stiff so thought a headset upgrade might fix that.
Since I was thinking of upgrading the seatpost anyway, I thought I might as well upgrade some other bits as well at the same time. I might grab the Scrowave Suspension block too to improve the ride since I'll be ordering from SJS anyway. I also saw the Contact Urban tyres were on sale too...

You running internal or external gears? That could be a massive saving.
Remember the weight saving on a Brompton doesn't match the cost at all, but the brompifcation seatpost is a big win in my books.
Love mine, only issue is in the closed position it when folded away the top of the seatpost is from what i gather is a little tappered. This will make the bike swing and not hold in its fixed position when trying to carry it via the saddle.
Conti Urban are a big win too for the balance of weight, rolling resistant and puncture protection.
Good luck with your upgrades.

Remember I have brought carbon wheels and handlebars for the Brompton ;)

You've sold me on the seatpost and tyre upgrades!
I have the standard gearing for the 6 speed models but pretty happy with it to be honest though I only really use 3-4 gears overall.
Does the seatpost itself change the ride feel? I've never ridden on a titanium seatpost before.

Anyone have a beater wheelset going cheap? Equally interested in just a front wheel. :)

i'm still not convinced i did it right ... i might move the mudguard to come right after the brake, as currently the mudguard looks uncomfortable.
Did you manage to figure out the correct sequence of bits, or did it work ok as in your last photo? Mine’s just arrived and I’d like to get it right first time if possible.

I've got a front wheel. PM me.

For comfort, I don't really notice the difference. Change your tyre pressure if you want comfort.
But if you have a lighter saddle and seatpost combo this definitely makes a difference when you kick out of the saddle and you'll notice the weight difference. Granted with a 6 speed maybe less so.

Thanks for all your help, managed to get a test ride on the medium and low bars, think the medium is better for me overall.
I'm picking up a P line next Tuesday, can't wait.
Only thing left to figure out is what bag to get. The medium Brompton messenger looks ideal for me, as does the medium roll top. Wondered if anyone had any slightly nicer suggestions around this size?

• #12246
get the bigger bag of the two, the metal frame on which the bag goes on is the same size, i'd personally want a bottle pocket at the back

look at the borough waterproof, its a great bag

There is a new rucksack bag coming out before the end of the year if you can wait that long.

taking the wheel off is key.
I didn't take the wheel off for fitting mine. Access seemed OK for everything I needed to get to.
What do you want the upgrade to be?
The Brompton Chainset is actually pretty good; H+H is lovely, tiparts too, but cost / benefit is not there tbh
