  • Is this acceptable? Felt pretty good from a punt up and down the street.

  • Hard to judge with those photos. Maybe hoods are a bit high? Maybe the whole bar/hood combo needs rotating a degree down? Looks like lever might be hard to reach from the Drops?

  • Doesn’t look like a comfy drop position to me. Hoods that far up normally is a result of the reach being too long – or cyclocross. If that’s the problem, as the bars are not long, a shorter stem may help.

  • You're both probably right! Will have a play about and see if I can improve it.

  • Worse photo, better position? Levers feel much easier to reach from the drops.

  • That looks alright I think 🤔

  • Maybe I need a zigzag over my macho king hmmm

  • I can recommend to ride as long as possible without bar tape – this weekend I re-wrapped 3 times the left side, and two times the other side. Hoods were always a little bit off, too high, too low, et cetera. And all this with a leather bar tape (BTW soaked in warm water before wrapping really helps).

  • I plan to turn the transition rapture into a road ish bike of sorts. 32s, 2x10, guards, as it rode better on road than the macho king does....

Tho a zigzag would match the king pretty well

  • That is proper.

    Love it.

  • Like I really hate to do this as he is one my fave frame builders and he is a master at it, BUT :(

  • So I'm getting this right: bars should be down here, but hoods are okay?

  • I am not sure rotating the whole thing down works with these bars/lever combo.
Maybe moving levers up a tad after rotating bars down would help but it doesn't look like it would end up being more comfy than what Chapman already has done.

Here is a quick photoshop mockup

  • I’m going with leave them well alone. I think the drops in this case are for honking up hills, not for bombing down them.

  • Did @Tijs hack your account?

  • Those levers come with an insert to adjust the hoods angle which could improve things

  • honking up hills

    Never hears that before.
