• Rim width? I wouldn't want a 2.6 on a rim narrower than 30mm internal.

    Also, bigger tyres can provide more cushioning, which is welcome on a hardtail - but pressure is even more key as too much and you bounce on climbs, too little and you squirm.

    Big tyres are not great in mud either.

  • This is really good advice that I just assumed would be fine. Turns out they are 25mm rims and recommend up to 2.5inch.

  • As a word on this, Spesh seem to come up a bit small IME. 2.6 work absolutely fine on my 27mm internal rims.
