Can you really cross the chain completely without any chain rub ? (Big ring, small cog and vice versa ?)
I really enjoy my da 77000 triple on my commuter bike but i think it's impossible for me to set up without chain rub in the extreme positions. And after every 6 month on commuting i need to play a little bit with the derrailleurs settings.
It's a second hand groupset and i use it every day since almost three years. I think the groupset start to be a little bit tired and i am thinking about getting a new transmission. I like my 1x11 on my mtb but for a "road" bike i was more tempted by a 2x with a compact crankset. Have you any recommandation ? I live in the alps so some climbs are quite steeps.

Yes. I have Sora R3030 setup on tourer and get no chainrub using full extend of the cassette / chainring .
BUT that is with trimming.

As @King_Saxlingham said, you can, I believe this is why people generally don’t like triple; you can’t always get it to not rub until the late ‘10 where Shimano finally got it to work well with their mid to high end road groupset.
(Ignoring the fact friction shift is another way to get zero runs).

What your smallest ring? If it’s 30, then a 46/30 would suffice unless you like to grind heavily.

Same issue with my sonder. Mounted a wald 137 using the bar mount/fender eyelets. It works fine. Have a jack the rack on the way to replace it.

Were you a Kickstarter supporter? I missed it and am now on the mere mortals waiting list. It looks ideal.

Haha! That made me come over a bit funny. I’ve had a cuppa and a sit down now.

It’s quite nice I got a pre production model here to try and the final one in the Mail.
It’s especially great for smaller frames to support handlebar bags. Was a lifesaver for the missus when she did the Montana’s Vacias Ralley -

And a steering wheel instead of bars, and a rancid-looking saddle.

Thank you.
I really want a bike like this but I’m struggling to find something that fits the bill and is available in the uk. -

In a less beautiful french randonneur style, this one lives on my street, might be a vsf Fahrradmanufaktur.

Interesting. Might be enough to see me sell a bike.
The other thing is that we sell a lots of hybrids to customer, they genuinely enjoyed a 1 by for the soles reason all they have to do is shift up for easy and down for hard.
I think we sometime forget people really don’t understood how to work a double or triple, and just grind through it, the 1 by simplified it massively for them to enjoy cycling without feeling like an idiot for riding on the wrong gears, even Road cyclists do this.
