I have two theories.
Either they are targeting a particular segment which has a different risk from the population as a whole (home owner, age, etc...)
Or they are focusing on the buildings and contents and not realised what risk they are taking on with the bike.
Either way I'd be confident a leading insurance company would pay up if it came to it. They gave me the quote so I assume they are happy with it!
Yes, that's why I posted it as it's way better than the any standalone I found.
When we got the bike I looked into standalone insurance and it was the sort of level you mention. Laka was the lowest, but it didn't make sense to pay that much. But I had to renew our home insurance and just put it on the off chance.
Actually the Laka insurance would have been more expensive just for the bike than my entire buildings + contents for a four bedroom house! Not a criticism of Laka as I'm sure they've worked out their risk, more an observation on how the insurance industry works.
