For those who ride single speed, what gearing would you go for? I'm going to go 36/18 (2:1) with a wapping ~14mph top speed

I used to find 36x19 and 34x18 good around Epping. That was with 29er wheels, so about 55"

We're only riding up one hill though :-)

For anyone riding up to Chingford ouy of East London, happy to meet people by Bakers Arms on Lea Bridge Road and hop into the woods at Whipps Cross for a nicer approach to the start of the ride

@PhilDAS will be riding up, because he's a L E G E N D

It's raining all week. Which does not look good for my attendance

Assuming I can finish bike I might try and tag along.

One of the best parts about the last ride was that it didn't start at the usual roadie club hours of 8 am on a weekend.

A badger ride will never ever start at 8am

8pm maybe

starting at 8am would suggest those attending were

1) enthusiastic about riding their bikes
2) any good at riding their bikes
3) not just doing this to justify a full sugar coke and a kebab

I always thought it was that they wanted to get the bike ride out of the way early in the day so they could deal with other important things.

I am, but would have never suggested to start as late as 8am.. Will see if I can resize my enthusiasm in line with the principles above
