Just screwed it down on its plinth and its pretty stable so guess its staying like that. Was tempted to fill the gaps with mastic or something but they are actually a little back from the walls, the door was meant to be flush against the chimney breast but I look to be about 5-10mm out. Scrap wood was another call but think there is at least 5mm variation in wall to cupboard so may be a challenge. Also the alcove narrows by 40-50cm.
All good fun.
Now how many years is it going to be left unpainted?
