Aye forgot to say definitely second hand! And older gen not a problem. Just trying to figure out a reasonable price point/generation of iPad that works. For example my 1st gen iPhone SE was bought second hand in 2018 and lasted me 4 years at a cost of £200. It was never going to be all singing and dancing, but did what it needed to for £200. Wondered if I could do the same for an ipad (the £200 not including a stylus or keyboard for now).

Sorry I can’t help more. Someone will have a better idea of older iPads. My daughters old one lasted about 6 years and effectively died. If you know someone going to Hong Kong, check out the prices there - we did that for a couple of Apple things. Good saving if you are buying new - the pen and keyboard could be bought cheaper there.
Daughter got a new iPad, pen and keyboard earlier in the year. Total cost was £1000+ Obviously all new. Unfortunately, I doubt £200 will cover it.
