I actually met a tourer who quite like his 11 speed 11-36t when he paired with a 42/28 chainset, if worst come to worse, he just put a 11-42t on it.
(most Shimano derailleur can handle a 11-40t with a 16t jump chainring nowadays, even 105 R7000).
Close. Been running 42/26 x 11-40 this summer; it's awesome.
I’ve ridden this Roberts (to test ride after a service) with a 50/40/30 chainset, I have to says I genuinely miss a good triple, that gearing would be 100% perfect for alpine climb.
Good old Spa Cycles! I literally just cut the guard to get the front derailleur to work better.
