Cheers @Oddo , hadn't seen it before, I quite like it, bang a double, or even a triple and a slightly smaller cassette on. Sorted

And, obviously, some mudguards.

I actually met a tourer who quite like his 11 speed 11-36t when he paired with a 42/28 chainset, if worst come to worse, he just put a 11-42t on it.

(most Shimano derailleur can handle a 11-40t with a 16t jump chainring nowadays, even 105 R7000).

Close. Been running 42/26 x 11-40 this summer; it's awesome.
