  • I really must stop calling it Dura race, otherwise people will think I’m stupid and not taking the piss out of someone. They don’t even come on here!

  • All change again. After a shopping trip this morning. I’ve decided I need a basket on the city bike, so it’s Midges for the Pest, and flat bars and a pizza rack for the SWorks (more later)
I know I need to hoods up, but ran out of time and need new tape as well.

I stood back and threw some bits at the SWorks NOS forks, pizza rack and bag, spesh flat bars, tektro c/v levers, ODI grips. There are some Tektro V’s in a box somewhere. So just a star nut and some cables to source. Oh and cut the steerer.

    • didn’t want to start another thread…
Excuse the shit pics and strange order they are in.

  • And the brakes clear the crate as well so win win.
May try and find some gears for it now I know it’ll work.

  • Had to get some shopping today so put the pizza rack on the Midnight Special, it’s not really a front loader, but it did the job. It was only a 15 mile round trip, but I survived.

  • The Pest is my go to bike for work at the moment it would seem. So I thought I’d better sort out the bar position.
Flipped the stem and changed the above spacer from silver to black. As well as popping on an AWOL top cap. Looks a whole load nicer, but still the wrong angle. I’ll search thought the stem box and see if there’s a Bob on one another day.
I’ve also fitted a pump and a small tool bag on the seat tube and reattached the spanner to the rear wheel nut with a cable tie. Oh I replaced the zip lock bag with a pack of self adhesive patches that live behind the barend. As they had gone a bit crusty.
Other than that it just keeps rolling along.

  • I have that pump and I think I’ve got the same safety glasses as you because I’ve got one of those Bolle bags as well! Do you get on ok with those bars? I had Lauterwasser bars on a vintage bike (which were a similar shape) and always struggled to find comfortable hand positions.

  • I think having the wider straight top makes them work better tbh, but I’ve found they are only comfortable if you angle the bottom of the drops down hill a bit. So that you fall into the hook which is why the hoods are so low.
Yes to the ball bag, as it’s called at work, it is from my spexy safety glasses.

  • I’ve been out on the Langster again after installing a new BB. I had to lock up and leave it all day today. I don’t think anyone will want to steal it.

  • All change on The Pest again.
Back on with the Mavic rimmed Dura Ace track hubbed wheels, but with WTB Byways in 34x700 flavour and a side of light fast rolling for extra kick. Not too bad for under £20 each including tubes.
    Ooh new pads as well.
Went out for a little 20 miler and they are nice!
42/19 gearing for added grav grav vibes.

  • It’s meant to piss it down tomorrow so I’ve reinstalled the guards on the Kish. Oddly I think it looks better with them. One of the flaps was made of hole and gaffer tape so I did a little bit of Blue Peter on it.

  • Nice. What do the 34 byways measure at when mounted?

  • Just had a measure and on a (sssh) 13mm internal width rim the out side edge of the side knobs (sssh!) are believe it or not, 34mm.

  • So I was given this by someone at work. Their neighbour bought it online a few years ago and used it a couple of time. Before putting it in the shed under a blanket. Fast forward to now and they have lost the battery and charger. So where taking it to the dump when Aaron stepped in and sent it my way.
I’ve pumped up the tyres and that’s all it needed before it’s first ride.
Well I got to the end of the road before the chain jammed. How I see why they parked it. A link had pulled apart on one side. It ran ok in the larger gears, but in the smaller 2 bang bang stop. I took a link out and went out again. It’s slow, but works fine oh and it fits in the boot next to the Brompton so there’s that.
I may try to source a battery and charger or I may not?

  • I’ve been playing in the garage again.
I started to build up my old Trek Domane 4.3 as a flat bar dad bike. I changed a few on it and then went on the bay to source some more. But what the fuck am I doing? I hated it as a road bike, the only thing it had going for it was it was pretty cheap when I got it.
I’ve got too many bikes! There I said it. I need to sort my shit out. I mean why the fuck have I got it all?
I thought I’d write a list of the crap that is littering the shed, loft, garage and store at work, to see what needs to go.
    Trek 8000 ‘90’s MTB
    Trek Domane 4.3
    Raleigh ESQ
    Triumph (jailbreak thing)
    1946 New Hudson tandem
    1940’s Pashley ladies upright
    1950’s BSA mans upright
    Pashley Guv’nor
    Dash folding EBike
    Brompton 6 speed
    SWorks tricross
    Specialized Langster
    SJS SingleSpeed/fixed/Tracklocross/commuter
    Standert Kreissäge
    Standert Umlaufbahn
    Dolan PreCrusa
    Specialized Sequoia
    Surly Midnight Special

    FUCK!

Then there are Liz’s 3 bikes.

I need to get my shit together!
Then there’s the car and all it’s spares.

    I’ve said it out loud.
    That’s the first step right?

  • SJS SingleSpeed/fixed/Tracklocross/commuter

    dibs

  • Fuck me I forgot the Titanium Kish!

  • I’ll keep that in mind, but I think it’s a keeper, but. tBh who knows. It’s the Cheapskate steamroller 😬

  • After today’s ride out The Kreissäge is on the keep list. I hadn’t ridden it for over a month, but 2.5hrs at a steady 19mph proves I still need a road bike for sunny days like these. The plastic Trek can go though.

  • Did a bit of green lane quaxing earlier on The Pest. But I’ve lost the rack adapter I made to mount my Pizza bag to the mini rack, so I cable tied the Pizza Rack to the mini rack and then put the bag on top. Well it worked so that’s a win a least.
