To follow this up, I did the challenge, but paid £700 for a car in the end as getting one for under this is seemingly impossible.
I would like to pass this on to someone else, I had the car Servied & MOT’d and fitted new tyres all round.
Let me know if you’re interested and I’ll send over some more pictures! Reg is: S549 JFC and my number is 07824 181110

Unfortunately this is not ULEZ but is probably one of the cleanest 99 Primera in the UK and was trouble free for 1000 miles for me.

That is nice. What engine?

Got to love a £500 pound car - they’re a dying breed. 11 days MOT might’ve been a bit short for you tho ;)

Thank you! It’s the 1.6, a little slow but incredibly reliable and now sold for £700 :)

I am loving everything I’m seeing here - little track/drift car?

The other cars were a 1.1 2003 Saxo and a 1.6 1991 Auto Rover G 216, luckily with the Honda motor!
(The Rover could be for sale if someone fancies a challenge, it’s exhaust fell off and a headlight got cracked but it comes with stacks of paperwork and is clean on the inside, No MOT, if anyone wants it they can have it for £300.)

Rovers reg is J895 VTW. Can send more photos if someone is interested and the exhaust is now tacked back in place! I think it would probably take £500 to get it back on the road.

Nice little lineup. You need to get yourself on autoshite.

Nice. First car I ever drove was a 97 Toyota Carina E, pretty much Toyota's equivalent. It had a 1.8 so was slightly less slow but was still a very boring car - the most excitement I ever had in it was when I crashed it into a Metro.
Do think cars of this era have aged really well though.

Yeah 100ish hp just doesn’t do it does it. Do like the Carina.
I agree, much more than the early 2000 era of cars like the mk3 golf etc which are so ugly.

Banger/field racer. Just with pals. If the rover was up north I’d have it no questions lol.

The trip sounds like a right laugh tbh. How was the actual drive? Any mechanicals?

It was great actually! Bit tiring being back in a clunker after being used to daily modern auto but trip of a lifetime. Did it all camping as well which made it even better.
Ended up being about 900 miles in 5 days

Would recommend anyone to do it if you like cars and camping!

That sounds like a lot of fun. Will have to float the idea with some pals!
Not particularly the place for this but I’ve seen a fair few cars here for sale recently so worth a go whilst I’m scrolling auto trader every evening.
I am doing the 500 mile, £500 car challenge with a couple of friends at the end of September, it’s stupid but it’ll be fun.
Requirements are fairly low:
Doesn’t need to be ulez
No age is too old
MOT for at least a couple of months
To sum up, literally don’t care what it is as long as it’s £500 or under.
I’m hoping for that someone has lived under a rock for the last year and has an out of ulez car they’ve been meaning to sell.
Many thanks
Callum
