2000 t5, full rebuild, hinge, headset, bb etc. Black edition conversion, no stone left unturned…
Rides really nicely now, brakes and rolling speed the biggest changes I reckon

I guess I just want to be comfortable above all else, not too hunched over (to help with visibility etc in London).
Just wondered if the mid is going to make me a parachute. I should really try and find one to ride.

- Test ride. 2. M type with a Joseph Kuosac mid rise bar drops it 30mm and widens 80mm, well worth thinking about

The 3 speed M is a popular model for a reason.

Got shifter bolts and left pedal washers in stock if you lost one!

Does changing to a JK mid rise bar require a change of cables or affect the fold?
-
• #12183
No cable change as lower but wider; you will need to trim 40/50mm off unless you have bigger easy wheels / a rack

Thanks. And if i take 20mm off each end of the bar, does that still leave enough room for normal length bar grips (which is one of main reasons for the change, plus more backsweep)?

I switched to mid-rise and have no issues with folding (haven’t trimmed).
Admittedly there’s more clearance now that I added a rack from Ali express

Yep!

Thanks. In that case I think I’ll do it. As Brompton upgrades go it’s not a huge amount of money either.

Wider bar makes the bike so much better too!

AliExpress rack has arrived. Now just need to work out how to fit it and if I can manage it without taking the back wheel off

Save yourself the hassle and just take the wheel off.
-
• #12191
You can’t, just drop the wheel
-
• #12192
ha my rack has arrived too, and I'm wondering the same ... let me know how you end up doing it!
-
• #12193
you gotta buck up and drop that wheel dude!
-
• #12194
can't work out if i need to remove a mudgard stay or get a longer bolt?
this vid suggests taking off a stay ...
-
• #12195
Either remove all the stays. And bolt the guard to the rack, or just fit longer bolts and leave all stays in tact and remove the roller wheel but add washers above the guard instead
-
• #12196
Cheers. Hadn't thought about removing a stay.
Annoyingly that video glosses over releasing and tightening the screw on the mudguard which seems to be the tricky bit if you don't remove the wheel.
-
• #12197
Without removing the wheel you can’t remove the drive side dropout bolt, it’s a right pain the remove / hold the roller wheel nuts etc.
-
• #12198
buck up is right. i hate taking off the back wheel!
will attempt this today so wish me luck.

Chatted to him, it’s a pre 2004 frame; was happy to post but I wanted to pay a touch less as I’d fit a LWB frame
Budget, where are you based?
