Have been reflecting on the cycle home
I mean, as resignation speeches go, it wasn’t so bad
And the optics will be looking favourable this evening

Have been reflecting on the cycle
Me too.
However compelling this soap opera is, reflecting on cycles, saddle choice, gravel v fixed, gear ratios etc. seems a much healthier thing to do -

In the Truss dimension, it is apparently all still the media's fault

Silly question, if Truss resigns does the deputy PM automatically take over?

Been enjoying the NewsAgents podcast recently with Emily Maitlis and crew including this paraphrased zinger from today‘s show:
“Truss’ argument that Britain needed growth and anyone opposing this argument was part of an anti-growth coalition, a group that now must include herself.”

No. The pm can stay in place until the replacement is sorted.

There really should be a system where someone who has failed as spectacularly as Kwasi Kwarteng, should be sacked as an MP. He can never re-establish any credibility as a politician.
However with his constituency, he could hang around on the back benches for 40 years, hoovering up 'consultancies' for his worthless opinions.
See John Redwood for more details. -

Who is the deputy PM today?
It was Raab at some point, wasn't it? What's he up to at the moment? I haven't seen his name for a while - is he just biding his time... ?
